Earliest chronological story?

• "The Frost-Giant's Daughter" is, arguably, the earliest chronological story by Robert E. Howard in terms of Conan's life.

Really? Wasn't Conan even younger in The Tower of the Elephant? Following Patrice Louinet (Wandering Star/Del Rey edition) there's a Conan chronology made by Howard himself... where could this be found ? was it simply ever published? Kintaro (talk) 20:17, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

I don't think there is a formal, official chronology. As I recall, a fan sent a chronology to Howard and he agreed it was pretty close, but he didn't write out an chronology of his own. This story was not published as a Conan story during Howard's life, so it was not included in the fan chronology at the time. See Conan chronologies. Publication History

The article claims that the piece was "Rejected as a Conan story by Weird Tales magazine editor Farnsworth Wright, Howard changed the main character's name to "Amra of Akbitana" and retitled the piece as The Gods of the North." It then goes on to say that "The original short story was written by Robert E. Howard in 1932 and was not published during his brief lifetime." Finally, it says the first version and the last version (with no other context as to what those versions are in reference to what was initially described) were not published during Howard's lifetime. However, we also have the info box stating that the piece was published in 1932 in Weird Tales.

http://www.gwthomas.org/ssrgmags.htm The above page says that "Fantasy Fan published the only Conan story to appear outside of WT during Howard's lifetime, "The Gods of the North". (the original title for this story). However, it calls it a Conan story, while the wikipedia entry says the work under that title featured Amra, not Conan.
