Just a few issues:

Plot: "before they end up killed" I would put 'getting' before 'killed'
Plot: "Gifting them with a new house and new car" I think you can remove the iteration of 'new' before car
Reception: "beaten by direct competition" I would change 'competition' to 'competitor'
Reception: It's not a huge deal, but I think 'mixed to positive' reads a little easier than 'positive to mixed', IMHO
Reception: "io9's Charlie Jane Anders was more positive" The sentence right before this quote was not negative, so the 'more positive' remark should probably be removed and replaced with 'positive as well' or something
Reception: "Neela Debnath, writing for The Independent, also gave a positive reviews" Reviews should just be 'review'
