edit request redux[edit]

I would submit that just because Wikipedia's policy is not to hide spoilers, it doesn't follow that spoilers must be added. One should be able to at least read a character list without encountering spoilers, particularly if the information is unnecessary to understanding the initial characterization. If people want to add spoilers in episode descriptions, I think that's completely expected, but in character descriptions? Just because a thing can be done, doesn't mean that it should be done. Characters[edit]

Hi, all. Since the show has a sizable four seasons, I think it would be a good idea to make another page of the show's characters. Tell me what you think. PixtonRran (talk) 03:42, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'd wait to get other users' opinions, but I'm currently leaning against this. The article isn't long enough to justify a split based on size alone (see WP:SIZESPLIT), and I don't know if the show has enough notability to justify a separate page for its characters. If we were to create a new page, we would need to have plenty of sources in order to prove notability. I'm also hesitant to do it because many character lists end up becoming poorly written with very few sources and/or bloated with useless or non-notable information (see Category:Lists of American sitcom television characters for examples), and I worry that the same thing would happen here, particularly given the lack of sources currently present. For the time being, I think we should focus on providing more sources for the existing list of characters, and if the search for sources ends up providing enough new information to potentially support a second page, then we could reconsider the topic. FWIW, I agree with RunningTiger123 here as well. Given that the show ran for 53 half-hour episodes, had a main cast of five individuals, and relied otherwise on regular recurring characters or only the occasional special guest star, there really isn't enough reliably-sourced content that would justify a separate page for the characters of this show. A page like that is justified for othher shows, like This Is Us, since that show features a large ensemble cast in every episode, alongsidee recurring characters across all seasons and several special guests per season as well. With that in mind, it doesn't seem like a worthwhile use of time to create a separate page for this show's characters, since such a page might not have sufficient material or sourcing to warrant keeping and maintaining it. --Jgstokes (talk) 10:02, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Inspiration from a Twilight Zone Episode A Nice Place to Visit[edit]

The 1960 Twilight Zone episode, a Nice Place to Visit, as well as having a similar title, also has a broadly similar plot, and twist, to the first season of The Good Place. I don't know if this similarity is intentional or the episode has ever been explicitly acknowledged by the creators of The Good Place.

Here are four mentions of the similarities between The Good Place and A Nice Place to Visit

Unfortunately, I don't think that is enough to warrant inclusion. The first site is a personal blog, and the remaining sources are user-generated content, not reliable sources. RunningTiger123 (talk) 19:44, 6 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
