Renaud[edit]

Could someone please disambiguate Renaud? - Nabla 2005-07-07 20:03:34 (UTC)

That was probably Renaud Séchan. --Kubrick 908 17:29, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sacre Bleu![edit]

They left out Ravel.

Worse than the British list[edit]

Zidane > Charlemagne??? HAHAHAHAHAHAH..Sorry, Charlamagne conquering europe and founding BOTH France and Germany, is pretty weak I guess, compared to World Cup goals. You guys have more relativsim than the British list. -C 192.197.71.189 14:28, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The objectivity of such comparisons is at the very beginning non-sensical, so... why not after all? If you judge the greatness of a man by the number of men he killed, Napoleon and Adolf Hitler are among the greatest. :) --Kubrick 908 11:10, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I find it disheartening, and a poor reflection on the choices of the French, that one of the greatest scientists/mathematicians of the Age of Enlightenment, René Descartes didn't make the list, while film actors did. - ineuw 2006-03-22

I'm pretty sure all of these "Greatest" series' have been criticized for their modern bias. 68.39.174.238 13:12, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand Descartes, Lavoisier, Pascal, Cézanne, Degas and Du Guesclin being out, but for the gods sake, where is Asterix? M.Campos (talk) 12:53, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please note Charlemagne achievments were not only military. His monetary, political and educational reforms are deep in the foundations of the modern Europe. During the dark ages, it was supporter of arts and culture. No. 1 would be a good position for him. But was he a French? M.Campos (talk) 13:08, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To put comedians, playwrights, actors, authors above Napoleon, that replaced sole monarch authority with the Napoleonic Code, and Jeanne who led the French to defeat the English Army, is simply stupid and ridiculous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.251.102.206 (talk) 19:06, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

These lists are no way definitive, and not made by experts. Those are the opinions of the normal people, and only the top 5 are (maybe top 10) are usually actual "great" people. Is it known how many gave their vote in France? Not mentioned in the article, at least... 86.115.115.139 (talk) 00:02, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
