Colin, or Colin's production team:

I have watched and listened to you for years--ever since you were on ESPN. Recently (probably because it was the Holiday time) you have had several guests on where you gave them 20+ minutes of interview time. They were some of your best shows ever. The narrator/producer of the Madden special followed up several days later with your boss, were obvious choices, but even the on site discussion with Joel Klatt re the bowl and CFP games was longer and more entertaining. Don't think that less of you and more of the guest is a better show; more of the "right" guest gives you more opportunity to interact and show your sports insight. I am 75 y.o., so it is hard to remember every guest's name, but Nick, Trent, Albert, and the NFL film guru are several that I would like to hear more from. Also, I would love to have Herbstreit on your show for 20 minutes.

Just a thought..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.47.250.175 (talk) 19:11, 31 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy/Reaction[edit]

I'm curious why the section about plagiarism and WWE controversy was removed? It seems like, an instance of him using without credit other people's material should be included in an encyclopedia article. --Jallotta 00:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It’s dated news that never amounted to much more than an apology. Some of the text in the linked articles was also inappropriate. The parties involved have received more than enough free publicity to compensate for having their feelings hurt by what was said. Time to move on. STS01 16:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is obviously spam. Self-promoting of the Michigan Zone web site. STS01 12:47, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How is there noting about the comments made concerning Dominicans?

Disputed text[edit]

I am removing the following because it is trivial, unencyclopedic, and original research:

Red Sox and Alabama Homers are regular targets of Collins rants. "Outside of the South, nobody cares about Alabama football. Recola...ridiculous..."

--Dystopos 17:07, 13 December 2010(UTC)

I am re-posting the following because it is a direct quote from the show and accurately demonstrates the style of program. The only reason Dystopos wants this text deleted is because he is obviously one of the "homers" that are being discussed by the show and now has a personal vendetta against anyone who reposts this information. Dystopos is welcome to add other quotes from the show.

"Red Sox and Alabama Homers are regular targets of Collins rants. "Outside of the South, nobody cares about Alabama football. Recola...ridiculous..." —Preceding unsigned comment added by STS01 (talkcontribs)

  • You have no call to judge my intentions. I have no vendetta and I have no beef with Mr Cowherd or his detractors. The disputed remark is not just "a quote from the show", it is an unsupported claim about the overall tenor of the show. Even if it were true (which I doubt), the claim reflects an editorial POV more than it adds to the article. --Dystopos 18:40, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The quote can be heard by accessing the audio archives at ESPN.com. You obviously do not listen to this show because for the past month Alabama football has been one of the primary topics each day. You obviously do have a vendetta with anyone who posts comments about Alabama football as you have been stalking STS01 for the past week erasing every comment you do not agree with. Seeing that you are a resident of Birmingham Alabama, I'd say the chances of your being an Alabama Homer are very likely. I would encourage you to better educate yourself on the show and the content before deleting future contributions here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by STS01 (talkcontribs)

  • You mischaracterize my activity. I have been erasing comments that Wikipedia's policies do not agree with. There is a difference between "for the past month, Alabama football has been a primary topic on the show" and "Alabama Homers are regular targets of Collins rants." I have listened to the show enough to observe that he has many targets. --Dystopos 20:14, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dystopos - Please refrain from commenting on subjects that you have not properly researched. I have listened to this show almost every day since its inception. Bama fan is a primary subject of the Rants on this program and the quote listed on this page was taken from a recent show.—Preceding unsigned comment added by STS01 (talkcontribs)

Just to throw my two cents in here: I'm from Syracuse, NY, nowhere near Alabama and I am definitely not an Alabama fan. I listen to the Herd regularly and I agree that he rips on Bama and Sox fans regularly and that perhaps that information is relevant here. However, I don't feel that the quote

"Outside of the South, nobody cares about Alabama football. Recola...ridiculous..."

belongs in an encyclopedia article. Darry2385 21:50, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not drawing any conclusions from anything here. I'm merely expanding on one of the most popular segments of the show by citing a notable excerpt from a recent program. This discussion is proof that Colins rants concerning Homers are correct. Apparently some of you are personally offended by the remarks made on this program and the only reason you are here is to butcher this article and remove any facts that you personally find offensive. I restructed the content so the quote in question is placed in a more logical place. STS01 22:04, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The only thing here that offends me are your presumptions about my motivations. I am not here to "butcher" anything. Your efforts to restructure the article have been positive, but the issue remains that your own observations regarding Cowherd's show need to be supported by verifiable sources according to WP policy. I will kindly ask you to address your arguments to the policy issue, and not to your assumptions about my character or motivations. --Dystopos 23:39, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the quote. I would also appreciate it if the vandals that frequent this page would give it a rest. This is not the place to vent your personal dislikes about the show STS01 18:28, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed quote broadcast on another radio program. Please refrain from using this page as a forum for your personal attacks on Colin Cowherd. STS01 15:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just wish you people who have never listened to the show would stop removing relevent information because YOU deem it not worthy when everyone who listens to the shows knows that it belongs here

This is NOT a fan page and the intended audience isn't just for people that listen to the show. This page also should not be a place for you to worship Coward and only allow what you deem worthy to remain. As far as the extended list of Daily Rants, please see Wikipedia's policy: Wikipedia:Fancruft. This is information that is not notable and only useful for fans of the show. Wikipedia does not allow for [[Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_an_indiscriminate_collection_of_information|indiscriminate collections of information. Controversy[edit]

To STS01 who seems to have made himself the "king" of this article. I appreciate that you are trying to be "funny" by not crediting the blogs which Cowherd has stolen material from, but this is not a time to be a thoughtless homer and blindly follow the host's poor decision making. Zzz345zzZ 03:16, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page is attacked by spammers and Cowherd haters daily. I'm merely trying to keep the article clean and accurate. User Zzz345zzZ has resorted to personal attacks here and on user pages and has been warned. STS01 13:20, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have never heard of Coward or his radio show before this incident. I never made any personal attacks against this STS01 character who will not hear anybody's opinion except for his own. Both websites mentioned in under the "Controversy" section should be mentioned by name and linked to. Just because Coward doesn't deem it necessary to cite his sources and give credit where credit is due, does not mean that they shouldn't be mentioned here. Zzz345zzZ 03:34, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bluefield - Please try to assume good faith here and refrain from calling out editor names in your edit summaries. Thanks! --STS01 15:16, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hopefully things will settle down and we can move on now that Bluefield has shown his true self here.--STS01 19:43, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to be entirely blunt here (a character flaw of mine, I know). Your early behaviour wasn't great, either, but you did try to defuse it later on. Thank you. SirFozzie 19:49, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. Like I said before, this page has long been the target of vandalism. Some vandals are more persistant than others. I apologize for maybe being a little over-protective at first but vandalism and personal attacks were totally out of control in this article for a while. Thanks for your assistance. --STS01 20:01, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, folks, let's take a step back[edit]

First of all, I would request that both sides not only WP:AGF of each other, but also practice it towards each other. It does no one any good to do character assassination toward each other. I have added additional information to the controversy section, as well as properly formatting some sections of the article. With the Ombudsman at ESPN.COM commenting on the stunt that Colin Cowherd did towards TheBigLead, the article can be sourced properly. Let's continue to improve the article. There's being WP:BOLD, but if you are reverted, rather then warning each other and getting into an edit war, take it here to the talk page, and work out a compromise, ok? It's on my watchlist, and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to leave me a message on my talk page or here on the article's talk page. Thanks! SirFozzie 08:27, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The article reads much better now. Darry2385 03:14, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why not link the mgoblog?[edit]

I don't understand why the link, or the title all together, keeps getting deleted. The only reason I can think is because fans of Cowherd keep deleting it because they think it is funny. Zzz345zzZ 06:44, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Wikipedia Manual of Style, blogs and personal web pages are on the list of sites not to be linked from articles. --STS01 12:24, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Deadspin link/references should also be removed from this article. Stories on Deadspin come from anonymous tips, readers and other sports blogs. --STS01 16:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, if you delete the Deadspin link, why does the transcript have to go as well? It is a verbatim transcript of what he said, and it completely captures what he said on that day. It is pure encyclopedic information. Like I said last week, fair is fair. --Bluefield 02:00, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Find a better source and put it back if you like. STS01 12:27, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deadspin is a solid source, but I'll put up more if that is what it takes. Seriously though, will you ever stop deleting and altering the Cowherd entries on this site? I'm not making this a personal attack at all, it is just very frustrating to check back on the pages every couple of days to see that you have either reverted edits, deleted material, or otherwise changed fully attributed facts about this guy. Nobody gets the final say here. --Bluefield 12:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:The herd.gif[edit]

Image:The herd.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:25, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The section on Sean Taylor[edit]

Hey, to the folks who want to add a section on Sean Taylor's death, and Colin Cowherd's comments regarding his death (and life), before the section gets added, please find a Reliable Source to support the section. Thanks. SirFozzie (talk) 16:24, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colin Cowherd and the Sacramento Kings[edit]

Colin refuses to acknowledge the Sacramento Kings even though they beat his beloved Lakers every game this season. Also refuses to acknowledge Fox and Sabonis. Hopefully the Kings will beat one of his loves, and he will be forced to mention them in the play-offs. 67.181.5.55 (talk) 18:39, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
