Televised death[edit]

Is it not notable that one of the last scenes in the final episode were the actual last moments in a man's life? (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/120409.stm ). I don't know if this was the first time (disasters, live broadcasts of suicides notwithstanding).

There's still an occasional muted uproar when a TV show claims they'll do the same (though in a recent case on ITV, it was later revealed to be a man's last conscious moments before he slipped into a two-week coma, then died), but despite all the discussion that arises no-one ever seems to remember that it's been done before.
