Special K

Man, why did that scene get cut from syndication? Lenny's bizarrely appropriate line about Burns being 'no bowl of Special K' made me laugh out loud the ONE time it was run. Was it cut out because Kellogg's and/or Disney wanted them not to use their logos? I sorta doubt that..

Robert Ludlum

That old guy in the airport asks a book seller if he has anything by Robert Ludlum, to which the seller replies: "Get out". Was there something about a hijacking in some of his books? I'm not sure I get this reference.

No, the bookstore is called "Only Crighton(?) or King" and obviously wouldn't have Ludlum books, and he's called Hans Moleman by the way.203.53.167.180 05:44, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

JAWS reference

Under cultural references, the following should be considered...

In the film Jaws - Quince (the shark guy) turns up - scratching his hands down the blackboard to gain attention - after the mother of a child eaten by Jaws offers $3000, says he'll find it for $3000 but will only kill it for $10,000.

Similarly, Willy enters the church and draws attention by scratching his down the blackboard - in an identical fashion - then offers his services in a similar fashion.

Synanon?

The Oneida did practice group criticism and maybe started the idea. On reflection though I wonder if this is more likely a reference to "the Game" practiced at Synanon. The reason I wonder that is that it more directly relates to cults that would've been around in the writers lifetime and nothing else seems to be referencing groups that died out before World War II.--T. Noticed something...

Towards the end of the episode, Cletus points a double-barreled shotgun at "The Leader", then operates a pump handle on the shotgun. This doesn't make sense - double-barrels are universally break-action, while pump-actions are universally single-barreled. Should this be noted as a goof in the "Trivia" section?
