Collaboration of the Month Proposal[edit]

This article is on the list of proposals for the monthly collaboration. Project members have expressed that collaborations often lack goals so I'm adding a list of potential improvements to the talk pages of each proposal.

Here are my suggestions for major improvements that need to be made:

  • First of all, this article has multiple maintenance tags. So changing copy-pasted content to paraphrasing and rewriting the content so it doesn't sound like an advertisement should be top priority.
  • The current references are missing a lot of data to the point were some are bordering on bare URLs (everything needs an archive url)
  • The article leans heavily on primary sources and could use some good secondary sources
  • The infobox lacks information
  • The article is missing sections dedicated to the content/format and episodes
  • The article could use some more see also links

Here are my suggestions for minor improvements that could be made:

  • Fix spelling, grammar, and clunky sentences
  • Fix, add, or remove Wikilinks
  • Update with new information
  • Check for more references
  • Improve the lead section
  • Add categorization
  • Add more images
  • Add Wikidata

If anyone has an other suggestions feel free to add to the discussion. TipsyElephant (talk) 02:06, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@TipsyElephant: I'm all for more people getting involved with the article? In terms of images, what kind of stuff are we looking for? Rusty Quill are active on social media and already use a CC-BY-NC licence on their podcasts so might be open to releasing so images if we ask them. I'd also be curious to know if you have ideas for how Wikidata could be used. Richard Nevell (talk) 18:05, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Richard Nevell: I think it would be great to have an image of the host in front of a microphone recording the podcast or maybe just a photo of the host. Maybe there's a photo of someone receiving one of the awards that the podcast has won. It probably wouldn't hurt to add one of the alternative cover arts that have been used as well or even some fan art if you can get permission and are able to credit the artist (I'm not sure what the copyright rules or Wikipedia guidelines on fan art is though). We could also add the Rusty Quill logo or something related to the podcast. As far as the Wikidata we've been developing this template Template:Podcast_platform_links to provide links to different platforms so adding any of the missing links would be awesome (I'm actually not sure how to do that yet tbh). I nominated The Magnus Archives for the collaboration of the month. I've noticed there is significant issues with the references and I would say the current sources arguably don't even demonstrate notability right now. So I'll probably be focusing on finding and adding better references and trimming the plot. TipsyElephant (talk) 20:24, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments regarding the sources I've found so far. There is a lot of student media that reviewed the podcast. That's not necessarily bad, but student media is generally considered less reliable per WP:RSSM so use those sources carefully. TipsyElephant (talk) 20:18, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I recently came across this SF Chronicle article. TipsyElephant (talk) 02:27, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Found a source from the NYT. TipsyElephant (talk) 02:53, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jurgen Leitner[edit]

I can't seem to find any reliable secondary sources that even mention Jurgen Leitner, and yet the summaries of the first few seasons spend quite a bit of time disucussing Leitner (even after I trimmed the prose). I'm wondering if it is appropriate to completely remove mention of Leitner and stick with what reliable secondary sources say about the plot (perhaps expanding the first few seasons' prose based on the sources rather than original research and primary sources). I think the focus on Leitner is a violation of WP:OR and WP:UNDUE. Does anyone disagree with my assessment and think that Leitner is important enough to the plot that he should be included anyway?
