It would be nice to get a photo of Goldsmith in character. What we have now is a photo of the actor, not the character. Kendall-K1 (talk) 13:37, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

Chuck Norris Facts

are these knockoffs of the chuck norris facts? 24.13.120.119 (talk) 00:49, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

No. Theguy0000 (talk) 17:01, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Well thanks for that reply then.... In any case these are actually lines from the dos equies commercials —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.88.83.117 (talk) 18:18, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, they could be inspired by Chuck Norris Facts, but those are just a ripoff of Bill Brasky, or whatever inspired the Bill Brasky sketches (as I'm sure this sort of thing is very old). Adam Bishop (talk) 04:07, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Why is there a link to Chuck Norris facts anyway? I Understand the similarity, but I dont understand the relevance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.196.10.140 (talk) 23:41, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Well this is apparently an ongoing joke. If no one has a good reason for it in the next few days, I think I'll remove the See Also: Chuck Norris Facts. LordSamanon (talk) 01:31, 7 September 2016 (UTC)

Edit Request

Hello Wikipedians,

I'm part of the ad agency team that manages the Most Interesting Man in the World campaign for Dos Equis. There are a couple of factual updates that should be made to the page and we're looking to the experts (you) to lend a hand.

As of today, September 7th, 2016, we've switched out the character (formerly Jonathan Goldsmith) to Augustin Legrand. We'd like to add his name and photo to the page as well as a few lines about the updated campaign. I've outlined the preferred edits below as well as a few links for reference and proof.

Please let us know if there is anything else we could share or link to in order to suffice as proof, since we know YouTube links won't do it.

An article by USA Today: http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/09/07/dos-equis-names-new-most-interesting-man-in-the-world/89538838/ " By Fortune: http://fortune.com/video/2016/09/07/new-most-interesting-man/ " By Adweek: http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/dos-equis-introduces-its-new-most-interesting-man-and-he-sure-different-173308

The Most Interesting Man in the World is an advertising campaign for the Dos Equis brand of beer, produced by the marketing firm Euro RSCG for Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery.[2] The original ads featured Jonathan Goldsmith as the “Most Interesting Man in the World” and were narrated by Frontline's Will Lyman. The advertisements first began appearing in the United States in 2006 and have since then become a popular Internet meme.

In March 2016, Dos Equis announced Goldsmith's retirement from the role, with a commercial sending him on a one-way journey to Mars amid much acclaim, and the narration: "His only regret is not knowing what regret feels like".[4]

On September 7, 2016, Dos Equis released a feature-film style trailer, titled “Cantina,” revealing a glimpse of the new Most Interesting Man in the World, featuring Augustin Legrand as the new face of the campaign.

On October 19, synced with Dos Equis’ College Football Playoff sponsorship, the brand will fully reveal the new Most Interesting Man with their classic vignette-style commercial. --XXMIMOwner(UTC) (talkcontribs) 10:52, 7 Sept. 2016 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by XXMIMOwner (talkcontribs)

I put a note at the end of the Advertisements section. Nothing much has actually happened yet except the announcement so I don't think we need much more than this for now. I think eventually we'll need a re-org of sorts, maybe a section for Goldsmith and a new section for the 2016 campaign. Kendall-K1 (talk) 21:35, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
@Kendall-K1: I used {{Sign2}} after their fist post, and then Sinebot came by :P Mlpearc (open channel) 21:48, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
Those darn bots. Kendall-K1 (talk) 22:03, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
@Kendall-K1: Thanks so much for the edit! Would we also be able to update the agency name? It used to be EuroRSCG, but the company was rebranded as Havas Worldwide in 2012 - This project is handled by Havas Worldwide New York, specifically. Could we call out that change? EuroRSCG isn't in existence anymore.
Also, is updating the photo and the name in the infobox possible? I have an image of Augustin from the most recent commercial shoot - Just need to figure out how to attribute it properly for usage on the page. I'd link to his Wiki, but he doesn't have an English one - French only.
Many, many thanks for your assistance!

We can't just replace the old agency name and photo with the new ones, we need to retain the history. As I said, this will require some thought as to how to structure the article. I don't see any reason to rush, the campaign hasn't even really started yet. I'll see if I can remember how to do the interwiki link. Kendall-K1 (talk) 14:54, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

@XXMIMOwner:: Can you get us photos of both Goldsmith and the new guy in character? Kendall-K1 (talk) 22:30, 8 September 2016 (UTC)

@Kendall-K1: Sure thing. Just think I uploaded the most recent Augustin photo (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Most_Interesting_Man_in_the_World.jpg) incorrectly - It is from our most recent shoot for this commercial, so it isn't technically my own work, but it is that of the agency and we do have rights to distribute. Looking into a declaration of consent for that now.
RE: the agency history, here's a link from AdAge, a reputable Advertising Industry trade resource that references the change in 2012: http://adage.com/article/global-news/havas-drops-euro-rscg-brand-adds-havas-digital/233063/
Thanks a mil!

XXMIMOwner (talk) 19:15, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

It seems very unlikely that the agency would have given you rights to redistribute under a CC license. I suggest you check in to this carefully, as WP tends to be very picky about image usage rights. I put in the new name of the agency, I don't think we need to do anything else about that, do you? Kendall-K1 (talk) 21:18, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Goldsmith audition for "....most interesting man"

Apparently, he was rejected for the campaign relating to 'being too old.' His agent, furious, responded by stating "How could the most interesting man in the world possibly be in his 20s or 30s?" Goldsmith won the part, immediately. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Homebuilding (talkcontribs) 13:55, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
