Untitled[edit]

The version of the Titanic legend that I've been hearing in the 20-something years I've lived in Aberdeen is "North East man lost at sea", implying that only one local was on that tub. Maybe it should be pointed out that a lot of the paper's circulation area includes traditional fishing ports (Peterhead, Fraserburgh, Buckie, MacDuff ...) and losing one member of a family at sea was very common. Losing all the men of a family in one sinking was nothing unusual either. I wonder if the local library has the copy? Or an ex-AJ journalist of my acquaintance. When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

As I heard it, the headline is Dundee Man Lost at Sea and the paper is, of course, the Courier. I can just about believe it of the Courier, but not of the Press and Journal. Angus McLellan (Talk) 17:21, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:PressAndJournalLogo.gif[edit]

Image:PressAndJournalLogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:PressAndJournalFrontPage.gif[edit]

The image Image:PressAndJournalFrontPage.gif is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --22:54, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:ThePress&JournalWeekdays.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:ThePress&JournalWeekdays.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 13 February 2012

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:ThePress&JournalWeekdays.jpg)

The Press and Journal (Scotland)The Press and Journal – Primary topic, daily newspaper which is still in publication and has been so since 1874. The Pennsylvania paper with a similar name was a weekly paper which has ceased publication, and appears to have had a much smaller readership.
