Tone is Inappropriate[edit]

Most of this article needs to be rewritten. The tone is far too informal and personal. KyuzoGator 14:52, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Gator Big Boom.jpg[edit]

Image:Gator Big Boom.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:25, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Improving the Article[edit]

  • Discuss the history/leadership in further detail. Also more information about the Steinbrenner Band Hall is needed. Jccort (talk) 20:35, 5 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge of separate Gatorettes article[edit]

I propose to merge the Gatorettes article into the parent article, The Pride of the Sunshine. Not sure how this ever passed muster in the first place, but we have an article about the majorettes (i.e. baton twirlers) of the University of Florida marching band, separate and apart from the main article about the University of Florida marching band. There is no need or logical reason to have a separate article for the majorettes; the Gatorettes are an integrated subunit of the marching band. Nor does the volume of sourced content suggest any need for a split. If we have a separate article for the band's majorettes, we might as well have separate articles about the band's flag team and tuba section, too. Propose to merge the "Gatorettes" article into the parent article, "The Pride of the Sunshine," while preserving most, if not all of the content, and creating a section-specific redirect for "Gatorettes." I'll second the merger idea. On the other hand, it's unconscionable that there's not a separate article about the trombone section. (j/k)
Also, what's with all the links to youtube videos after many of the article's subsections? While I personally like the idea, I don't think I've ever seen that in another article. Somehow, I doubt it adheres to wikipolicy. Zeng8r (talk) 17:51, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
