Powys Media books[edit]

Although I possess a copy of the first book listed, after several years of trying I cannot claim to have found evidence that any of the others have seen print. I've been trying to find a copy of Miss Freedom without success. The existence of an ISBN novel does not mean the book actually came out (ref. Evil River, a vaporware by William S. Burroughs). I think the section needs to be redone - perhaps with additional citations to indicate which books have actually been published, and if not, perhaps expand on why they were not. 70.72.215.252 (talk) 22:16, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Looking about online, it seems only 100 copies of the Miss Freedom were published, and sold as 'convention exclusives' with a very few left-overs sold through the Unmutual fan site. Which is a bit of a disappointment. However all information about the others appears to have disappeared from Powys media's site, and they were originally announced with release dates years in the past, as I recall even Prisoner's Dilemma was published late and that came out in 2005! So with no evidence to suggest they will ever be published I will remove them from the page.Number36 (talk) 02:32, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

3rd episode of Space Battleship Yamato 2199, slightly after the 12 minute mark. Analyzer AU9/IQ9 cracks a joke that he is not a number, but a free robot. Have someone who speaks Japanese check translation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.76.148.47 (talk) 04:26, 5 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Useless machine / piggybanks ?[edit]

In the episode "The General" the employees use a system to gain access/entry to each production area by placing a disk into a slot which is then grabbed by a slow moving hand from behind. This appear to be the inspiration for this device https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z86V_ICUCD4 and this piggy bank which operates exactly as it did in the Prisoner https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfXrNUSuNxc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.223.114 (talk) 20:38, 19 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

According to Amazon, that idea originated in Japan in the 1950s. I see it elsewhere as an Addams Family Thing Coin Bank. So I'd say The Prisoner used an existing gimmick. Scolaire (talk) 13:03, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Prisoner In Other Media[edit]

GI Joe the Animated Series had Shipwreck living in a house with the address "Number Six Village Drive" in the Cobra town of Springfield. "Frame of Mind" (Star Trek The Next Generation) could also be seen as an homage to The Prisoner with Commander Riker's situation. 184.13.107.193 (talk) 03:05, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
