Objections to deletion "due to lack of notability"[edit]

I've deleted the deletion template (sorry, before I've logged in).

Most of my points can be found in the article itself. If one or more of these reasons seem to be not clear, please let me know here, and I can try to expand them (here or in article)

  1. One of purposes of this media project is to protect/revive a language considered as threatened by UNESCO (and more threatened in Russia that, for example, in US, since most of it's users in Russia are old people).
  2. Efim Alexandrov, the author of this project, was awarded for it with several "Person of the year" awards, including
    (a) National level (official) Russian prize;
    (b) Prize of the largest federation of Jewish communities in Russia (including e.g. the Main Rabbi of Russia Pinkhas Berl Lazar, and including but not limited to the Russian part of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement of Ortodox Judaism, which in turn is considered the largest Jewish organization in the world today.)
    (c) Prize of the TV channel in Israel representing big part of the Russian-speaking community in Israel (which in turn is about 20% of the Israel population)
  3. This project was supported in Russia by a number of the top-level and world-famous musicians (e.g. Kobzon, Bashmet, Lundstrem), orchestras (e.g. Russian State Symphony Cinema Orchestra) et cetera.
  4. The project included a number of national and international concert tours, covering Russia, countries of CIS, United States, Canada, Germany, Israel, Australia.

@Tatewaki2: Just FYI, factors such as the 'importance' of the subject, or how notable people are associated with it, etc., do not determine notability. Per WP:N > WP:GNG, notability is established by significant coverage of the subject in reliable, independent sources. Currently this article is a bit weak on those, hence why I've added the refimprove tag. If more source cannot be cited, this IMO still potentially falls into the non-notable domain. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 07:27, 21 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
DoubleGrazing, I have been going through this past year and trying to assess and improve Yiddish music articles, and I have to say that I have my doubts as well whether this one is notable enough to be included. There are many, many Yiddish song projects out there, at the very least it should explain the circumstances of it more clearly in the leading section, which is very vaguely written.--Dan Carkner (talk) 21:47, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yiddish / Hebrew spelling[edit]

The name of a few songs have been rendered in Yiddish using a phonetic approach, which is readable but incorrect, since these words have their origins in Hebrew, and thus should be spelled differently.

Namely:

  • Lechaim => לחיים
  • Sholem Aleichem => שלום עליכם

Also, the song Kuzine has in the Yiddish transcription the name "Di Grine Kuzine".
