Untitled[edit]

This information is not an infringement of copyright. FAO wants this knowledge to be public information. I will re-word everything to avoid any accidental plagiarism. Thank you for your help and any additional comments or edits Hvant (talk) 12:53, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Have you declared your conflict of interest in relation to the FAO, Hvant? If not, please do so (please see below).
As far as copyright violation is concerned, if the FAO wants to release its published materials in a way that allows anyone, anywhere, to re-use them in any way, including commercial re-use, then an executive member of staff with the authority to make that release should follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. But at the moment, the pages are clearly marked as copyright, and cannot be copied here. Nor is it acceptable to copy-edit an existing copyright violation to make it less similar to the original source, as that runs the risk of giving rise to a WP:derivative work. If you want to start on a re-write of this page, you can do so here. If you do that, please don't copy any copyright text from the old version to the new, as that would completely defeat the point and make the re-write useless. Conflict of interest[edit]

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request, or by clicking the link on the lowest yellow notice above. Requests that are not supported by independent reliable sources are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:50, 29 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Justlettersandnumbers I have disclosed this information on my user page. I will request other editors. Just a note- this information is meant to educate people on the state of the world's animal genetic resources to help support global food security. There is no commercial interest involved, as FAO is a neutral forum for discussing national agreements. Best, Hvant (talk) 15:35, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problem removed[edit]

Prior content in this article duplicated one or more previously published sources. The material was copied from: http://dad.fao.org/cgi-bin/getblob.cgi?sid=-1,50006167 https://cgspace.cgiar.org/bitstream/handle/10568/3141/WP_26.pdf?sequence=1 http://www.fao.org/docrep/meeting/026/me546e.pdf and possibly elsewhere. Copied or closely paraphrased material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. (For more information, please see "using copyrighted works from others" if you are not the copyright holder of this material, or "donating copyrighted materials" if you are.)

For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, and, if allowed under fair use, may copy sentences and phrases, provided they are included in quotation marks and referenced properly. The material may also be rewritten, providing it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Therefore, such paraphrased portions must provide their source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with these policies. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:12, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
