According to the Chinese language Wikipedia, the film was announced to be "indefinitely postponed" in 2016 by "Tour Pictures" (is this Yonzu Pictures?). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:44B8:1102:A304:7166:1BA:6F80:3744 (talk) 07:28, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Chinese Wikipedia article does say that, but there is no reference cited there, so it isn't verifiable. It seems plausible, though, since the shooting was supposedly finished, but no film has appeared yet. I tagged your statement here in the English article as needing a ref. If you read Chinese perhaps you can do a search for a Chinese language ref? - Ahunt (talk) 13:31, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm watching the American production of this story (just released on Netflix here in Canada), and the opening sequence seems very critical of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Could that be why this Chinese production was never finished and/or released? I don't see the Chinese government being hot on such material, do you? If this is true, it seems significant enough to mention here. – AndyFielding (talk) 08:04, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
