Confronting armed military men with flowers at anti-war protests was commonplace by the time Riboud took this picture. A similar picture taken the same day is shown on the page for Flower Power. More importantly, a better know, Pulitzer-nominated photo predates the picture of Kasmir. See references for Bernie Boston, the photographer.

The only thing notable about the Riboud image resulted from his efforts to promote it and the book published around the time of the Smithsonian article.

I'd recommend updating where she is now. There was an article in The Island Packet several years ago about her living on Hilton Head Island. And now she owns her own massage therapy business there.
