Ongoing Edit war[edit]

Hey I just stumbled upon this by accident - but WOW. Is there a reason that there are this many edits and reverts going on without a single word on the talk page? I saw unsigned threats of legal action on one person's page, I see continuous reverts by a small number of accounts (looking a lot like sockpuppeteering). I'm sure that the 3-revert rule has been broken (or at least badly bent) somwhere here. Is this something that the admins are going to have to step in on? What gives? I noticed this too. There are two conflicting versions of the article that should be reconciled. The article itself is of borderline notability, as both versions promote rival commercial product lines (hence, I suspect, the subtext for legal threats). However, the reverts are pointless and should stop. Mtd2006 (talk) 23:17, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I notice that one version has a list of "Online Stores" with advertising links to commercial web sites. This violates so many Wikipedia policies, I hardly know where to begin. Should the article be nominated for deletion? I offer my support. Mtd2006 (talk) 23:25, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Editors: Please read Wikipedia:Edit war. Thank you. Mtd2006 (talk) 22:17, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Online Stores — inappropriate commercial endorsement[edit]

These links imply Wikipedia's endorsement of commercial products. I suggest Online Stores section should be removed from the version of the article that includes it per WP:CONFLICT and WP:ELNO, and WP:EL#ADV. I suggest adding the {{subst:NoMoreLinks}} template to both versions of the article. Mtd2006 (talk) 23:45, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The competing version of the article has a similar Distributors/Manufacturers section with links to purchasing web sites for products. Remove per WP:CONFLICT and WP:ELNO, and WP:EL#ADV. Mtd2006 (talk) 04:50, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. If you look at the picture on this version of the page (12-packer-thermal-bag), It was uploaded by User:Lolel, who states that they are the legal copyright holder of the work. And the exact same image appears on the Koldtogo webpage at [1]. The inevitable conclusion is that the user owns (par at least works for) this company, and is using Wikipedia as a source of free advertising. it doesnt take a lot of imagination to assume the same is true of the person reverting to the competing version of this article (although I havent worked out a paper-trail yet). The persistent reverting appears to be two rival businesses who are simply deleting reference to their competitor and re-inserting their own copy. Will blocking both users work, as there has been some sockpuppetry already - or does the page need to be cleaned and subsequently locked for a period? Good work. I'll tag the article with {{advert}} to alert editors to this discussion. There are three steps suggested at WP:COMPANY regarding advertising:
  1. Clean up per Wikipedia:neutral point of view
  2. Delete remaining advertising content from the article
  3. Delete the article, by listing it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion if no notable content remains.

Conflict of Interest[edit]

Several sections of the two conflicting versions of the Thermal bag article contain text and links to web sites that are purely commercial, that is, the text and web sites promote, advertise, or sell a product. Please read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies), the special note on advertising and promotion, and the guideline regarding products and services. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a forum for advertising. Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and the Wikipedia: Advertising and conflicts of interest guideline. The Wikipedia: Links to avoid guideline mentions types of links that appear in Thermal bag article: 4) Links mainly intended to promote a website, 5) Links to web pages that primarily exist to sell products or services, and 14) Lists of links to manufacturers, suppliers or customers.

The Thermal bag article is product related. The two versions promote competing product lines with links to advertising and purchasing web sites. Remove the commercial links, combine the conflicting versions, and resolve the disputed material; there may be remaining content that meets Wikipedia guidelines. However, reverting versions (edit warring) is a bad thing. Please stop. Mtd2006 (talk) 23:02, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
