Composition[edit]

Isnt the use of the word 'tempo' wrong?, the song had a constant tempo, it didn't vary so not sure why the line reads 'The tempo of the song moves from ballad to rock ' I suggest "The song structure moves from ballad to rock......" 109.147.144.66 (talk) 17:56, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Anybody remember a strange recording of this tune?: vocal sounded like Lennon's during 2d half "Tomorrow Never Knows," but recording wasn't The Beatles. I heard it on the radio back around 1979 or '80. I thought it was The Incredible String Band, but I find no account of them recording the song.BubbleDine 13:26, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox and lead[edit]

  • So per Template:Infobox_song#Parameters, "Generally, later releases or in secondary markets, reissues, on compilations, etc., should only be included in the body of the article." With this being said, I believe only 10 July 1964 should be listed (as its release on Something New appears later on.
The early North American Beatles releases are such a mess, it's difficult to explain in an infobox without it becoming unwieldy. I like the simplicity of your suggestion.
  • Along with the previous comment, Parlophone should only be listed
    Done.
  • "on their album A Hard Day's Night," – think you can get away with changing this to " on their album of the same name." with it linked
    Agreed.

Background and composition[edit]

  • Looks good

Recording[edit]

  • Is Lennon's piano heard on both mono and stereo or only one of the two?
Original research tells me you hear it on both the mono and the stereo, but it's a little clearer on the stereo given the separation. Using reliable sources, there are no mentions of differences between the stereo and mono versions in Everett, Winn or Lewisohn.

Release and reception[edit]

  • Correct the link for "Anytime at All" (should be "Any Time At All")
    Whoops! That's embarrassing.
  • Move "And I Love Her" before "Can't Buy Me Love" so there's not an "and and" (also conveniently matches the album's sequencing)
    Done.
  • authorized → authorised (Brit spelling)
One of these days I'll get my British spelling right.

BBC Radio and live versions[edit]

  • You should mention the song's inclusion on Live at the Hollywood Bowl from 2016
    Added.

Personnel[edit]

  • Looks good

Notes and References[edit]

  • Ref 32: p → pp
    Fixed.
  • Title of the song should be in quotes not italics in ref 34
    Done.
  • Italicize A Hard Day's Night in ref 35
    Done.
  • You don't need to include Pollack's notes in external links since you already source them in the body (see this edit)
    Removed.

Final thoughts[edit]

  • Overall very good job. Only a few tweaks before this will be an easy pass. I've noticed your further expansions to other Beatles songs and commend you for doing the same to this track (one of their best deep cuts). Great job and thank you, – zmbro (talk) 23:09, 9 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the kind words. They mean a lot coming from someone who is doing such a great job with all those Bowie pages. Maybe one day I'll work up the courage to get either "I Want to Hold Your Hand" or A Hard Day's Night up there as well. I suppose "Things We Said Today" is Bowie related in a very tangential way, given that it was the first recording session Ken Scott ever worked on. Tkbrett (✉) 00:49, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, also, I just had a good laugh seeing the template blow up on you there given that the same thing happened to me on my first try using it. They should really put a warning label or something on it. Tkbrett (✉) 01:10, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Haha yeah they should. Thanks for the kind words as well! One of my proudest projects is bringing the Beatles' song list to FL status. I've also brought John, Paul, George, and Ringo's individual lists to FL as well (also brought The Beatles in film to where it is now). If you ever need help with any Beatles-related pages I'd be happy to help out (just give me a holler). Anyways, easy  Pass :-) – zmbro (talk) 23:21, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
