Contradiction[edit]

There seems to be a contradiction in the paragraph: ‘On-demand transportation’

Quote 1 "On-demand transportation has become a mandatory capability for today's successful 3PL providers in offering client specific solutions to supply chain needs."

Quote 2 "On-demand transportation is a niche that continues to grow and evolve within the 3PL industry."

The term 'niche' suggests that it cannot be a mandatory capability of all successful 3pl providers that offer client specific solutions, but rather is a capability that some 3pl providers got or that is only required to offer a specific 'niche'.

I think that the real situation is that the biggest and most prestige’s customers often demand these services (like big automotive companies who do JIT delivery), but I am not sure if that is true. It would make sense, since if a company has a lean production process then having a reliable forwarder that can act quickly can be essential. This quick response can ensure that missing or broken components are replaced quickly minimizing expensive production stops. Therefore service becomes more important then price. I do however not know if this is what the author was trying to say.

Error?[edit]

The article states, "... a 3PL provider is always integrated in the customs system." But I believe that is a typographical error and the original author meant "customer's system" rather than "customs system." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robo45h (talkcontribs) 21:58, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]


This page seems like a cross between an ad and an introductory how-to manual. I suggest rewriting to change the tone.
