Snails[edit]

I found no evidence that there is "absence of freshwater snails" as it it in the DYK hook in the reference [1]. Otherwise I found a sentence "Trematodes are one species that is absent from the lake sediments." Did you accidentally classified a trematode as a snail? / There is an evidence of at least 8 species of gastropods in the area (but there is not explicitly mentioned in which lake they occur) at [2]. --Snek01 (talk) 17:16, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The book that I have says it. It was written by the National Parks Association (and much of its text has ended up on NSW government National Park websites (!)). But I agree that peer-reviewed literature would trump it. Casliber (talk · contribs) 21:38, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The actual words used on p. 37 are "The complete absence of water snails is also considered significant as they are usually found in fresh water lakes" Casliber (talk · contribs) 21:42, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reference and for clarification. --Snek01 (talk) 11:12, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you do find anything I'd be intrigued. I am going there in a couple of weeks so if I find any molluscs I'll take some photos! Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:58, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
