Merge[edit]

Thirty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution (Divorce) Bill 2016 and Thirty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2016 are duplicates. jnestorius(talk)

Certainly Support. Per Talk:Twenty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2002#Requested move 19 December 2017, the title Thirty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2016 is preferred. —Iveagh Gardens (talk) 12:37, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As to name, I suppose you are right... which said, most of the "Nth Amendment of the Constitution Bill YYYY" articles need a hatnote to List of failed amendments to the Constitution of Ireland for all the bills that never got to referendum. And there should be redirects from the fullname. I also see that Twenty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2002 had the year of the referendum instead of the year of the bill, which is Just Plain Wrong. jnestorius(talk) 13:22, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You're right about the Twenty-fifth amendment, that could uncontroversially be moved. --Iveagh Gardens (talk) 13:34, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Support merge. Keep this one (Jnestorius) and merge in anything needed from the other one (Iveagh Gardens). Spleodrach (talk) 14:28, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

As to content, I naturally like mine better than yours. Except for the navbox. But it's not a big deal and it won't matter much in the long run. The standard before-after text format is premature given that it will all change at report stage. I really don't like the jargon "PMB" and it's rather trivial for the lede. jnestorius(talk) 13:22, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is a distinction worth making though between those initiated by a government minister, and those initiated by backbenchers. Perhaps not enough for the lede, though I'm not sure where else this bit of trivia best fits. PMB is less jargon than a formal distinction. The before and after text will change after we get the report stage amendments, but for the monent, we should show what has been proposed to date. Once it passes the Dáil, its current wording will surely get less prominence. —Iveagh Gardens (talk) 13:34, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, you meant the abbreviation PMB! I'm not wedded to that, I used it to avoid writing it in full three times.
I hope I didn't jump the gun on any agreement here. I've incorporated some of your edits into the page as I had written it (providing you a credit in the edit note!). Hope this is fine! Using this page because of the title format, although the fact that Thirty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution (Water in Public Ownership) (No. 2) Bill 2016 is still live shows the possible deficiency in the agreed title format. —Iveagh Gardens (talk) 13:53, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
