"TJP" Edits

An editor at IP address 69.181.13.157 contributed several comments in the article which I have moved here; "TJP" comments in brackets, article text in italics.

  • [Perkins has never been an Investment Banker. TJP]
  • In 1963, he was invited by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard to become the administrative head of the research department at [he was not incharge of the research--that was Dr. Barney Oliver. TJP]
  • [He was chairman of Genentech until its affiliation with Roche. TJP]
  • Proceeds from the book will be donated to Harvard University. [The "if any" has been eliminated, as Harvard definitely receives proceeds. TJP]
  • Despite his professional success, some Silicon Valley insiders criticize Perkins as exemplifying the worst traits of the "new rich" with his materialism and chaotic personal life. [Those insiders may be unfamiliar with his considerable philanthropic works. TJP]

Assuming this editor is in fact Tom Perkins (and I have no reason to disbelieve so), thank you for helping to improve the article's accuracy and NPOV. Random Task (T·C) 00:45, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm not aware of any cited sources that contradict these edits, so I am leaving bullets 1-4 in. I added a source to support the Genentech tenure. I deleted bullet #5 since it's unsourced POV material. Random Task (T·C) 01:10, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
