Complaint[edit]

The Cougar suffers from quality and is considered inferior ? As an avid flightsimmer, I was always aware that every simmer's dream was to get one of these, quite contrary of considering it inferior to anything...The article does look a bit of POV to me as well, since nearly half of it talks about "how Thrustmaster is no longer a good company and makes bad products". Geohack 21:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC) Seems that way to me as well, should it be tagged? I'll dodge taking action this time with the newb excuse. Noogenesis 21:37, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

weaselish[edit]

OK I lied I did do something about it, but I just added the template and found the parent company. If the quality or opinions about the quality of it's products have changed over time I think that is important. But the voice needs improvement and there needs to be facts and/or references. Why the change happened would be very interesting, as well as contextual information about industry, perhaps. Noogenesis 22:44, 2 December 2006 (UTC) Very well said.If nothing comes up soon I might do some work on it.85.74.60.237 17:19, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

Took a few minutes and had some luck coming up with with some sources that should be useful with regards to what was suggested before. It seems like the Portland Business Journal in paticular had coverage of the company originally called Thrustmaster and its decent through 1998 and 1999. A list follows. Please contribute if you find any more.Noogenesis (talk) 17:28, 4 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In no particular order:

    • quote :
ThrustMaster Inc. will formally disappear in two weeks, but the company was already history at the start of 1999 because of a series of dismal quarters in 1998. The company will hold a special meeting on Sept. 24 to vote on the sale of its hardware business to Guillemot Corp. of France. It will also approve a new name for the company.

"The market for joysticks and the like is consolidating and the products themselves are becoming commodity items bought simply on the basis of price, Hausmann says. It was a good market from 1990 through 1997, but not anymore."
