instrumental in Lincoln's nomination?[edit]

How so? Weed supported his long time ally, Seward in 1860, not Lincoln. john k (talk) 04:56, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?[edit]

Anyone notice the complete lack of sources cited? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.117.90.83 (talk) 02:44, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. Also, since religion played a major role in those times, there should be some mention of his religion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.147.123.113 (talk) 07:29, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Very surpried to find there is no biography on Weed. Even more, after reading the latest biography of Seward and now reading latest of Gen./President Grant, references to Weed, at least in this Grant history, come only from other sources, nothing personally from Weed's accounts. Seems time for someone to dig into this goldmine of an historical figure with a substantial non-fiction work.Mwprods (talk) 23:25, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing issues[edit]

Howdy hello! This article seems to be sourced almost exclusively to Weed's autobiography. Some better sources need to be found...I have no doubt that Weed, a crafty politician and publisher, presented an overly rosy account of his life. I have Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Team of Rivals", which mentions Weed a good bit; I will try to include some info from it. CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 05:43, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@CaptainEek: I'm responsible for adding most of the cites to Weed's autobiography. I also started adding more references today and will continue to do so. Between us, we ought to create a complete enough picture that it doesn't rely on just one or two sources.

Can someone review this article?[edit]

I've made several recent edits to add content, references, and categories. Can someone review it and see whether it merits an upgrade from C class?
