Theme[edit]

I was just wondering if anyone had any information on a theme for the book.

As the sidebar on the article says in the genre field, it's a suspense thriller. To be more specific I'd call it a comedic supernatural suspense thriller. -- Heptite (T) (C) (@) 15:43, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Koontz himself calls it a blend of "supernatural thriller and screwball comedy", the latter being patterned after the comedy films of the 1930's such as Bringing Up Baby & The Philapdephia Story, with a strict plot pattern - see the Afterword in the novel. The theme is (IMHO) deadly magic overcome by good supernatural powers and love; the countertheme is the clash between traditional Vietnamese culture and the protagonist's desire to fulfil the American Dream. Image:Tick Tock.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
