Merge proposal[edit]

I propose Daylight saving time in Chile be merged into this article. Both articles are pretty short with a lot of overlap, and I think the two can be better explained in a single article. —me_and 11:25, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chris: I agree. But I think there is one flaw in the Article Time in Chile: "In 2013, Chile moved from CLT to CLST on April 27, and will move back to CLT on September 7.[2]" CLST means Chilien Summer time and in Chile the summer BEGINS in September and ENDS in April. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.246.118.177 (talk) 02:30, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

DST dates changed[edit]

Per TimeandDate, Chile is going to have its DST period run from the first Sunday in September to the first Sunday in April of the following year beginning in 2019. J4lambert (talk) 21:20, 23 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

They changed it again with short notice. I just saw the tzdata package update for RHEL. MS is slower in rolling out updates so admins have to disable time changes by GPO until the official patch comes out. "On August 8, 2022, the Chilean government made an official announcement about a Daylight Saving Time (DST) time zone change. The president just announced that abandoning time changes twice a year was a bad move[edit]

According to [this article](http://www.emol.com/noticias/Nacional/2016/03/14/792972/Presidenta-Bachelet-defendio-retorno-del-horario-de-invierno.html), winter time will be back mid May.

Rant: I live in Chile since 4 years and as summer time was fazed out, no gadget got it right ever, so on random dates random devices would change time randomly, due to this making sense last year or the year before that. Now, as I had hope to finally be able to work with my international team during those critical months thanks to this bullshit being abandoned, Bachelet brings it back on short notice. I would be happy if anybody could tell me the correct time, cause my only mechanical watch ran out of battery, so I'm clueless again if it's 6pm or 7pm but I guess it's 6pm. Grrrr.
