Relevance[edit]

I think the new 2013 politicians look out of place in timeline. The only people that should be here are those that have had a very signficant lasting influence; not sure who that would be, if any. Ted Bender? Dicklyon (talk) 07:29, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User Dicklyon deleted several mayors and US reps from the timeline, claiming they "distract" from more significant events in the history of El Paso. I disagree, as would many in the El Paso electorate. M2545 (talk) 17:17, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You should maybe try to find some of them to comment here then, because lacking some reason to see historical significance, I'm going to keep opposing the incudion of a random subset of mayors and other elected officials. I took some out at Austin and San Antonio, too. Perhaps we should advertise this discuss at those (and/or at the main city pages instead of just the thinly-edited timelines) to get a sample of what people think. With nobody else discussing it, my attempt to explain would be a waste of time, but here's a summary. It seems self-evident that unlinked names, and articles on people notable only for having been elected are not at a level of significance for inclusion in a timeline of this sort. Bibliography deleted[edit]

Dicklyon: You might review WikiProject Bibliographies to better understand the value of including bibliographies in articles on particular topics. The El Paso main article is different from the El Paso timeline article, and so are the corresponding bibliographies.
