Date of birth

The September 14 article and the Italian version of this article state he was born on 14 Sep 1986. This article, as well as the German and Welsh article state he was born on 10 June 1987. When was he actually born? Article improving (talk) 01:25, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

The article currently cites two sources:

So 10 June 1987 is possible (although the sources only support the year, not the date), but 14 September 1986 is contradicted by the BBC source. I'm going to change it to "1987" in the article now; any further changes need to be supported by additional sources (WP:BURDEN).

education

Hi guys, the majority of tinchy's education info was included in the introduction, with a further line about his education in a seperate section towards the end of the article. Given that the education info at the end of the article was just one sentence, i decided to drop it into the relevant place in the intro instead, and removed the 'education' section at the end. I am happy to change back if anybody wants it done, but i think that under the circumstances, the best place for his education info is in the introduction. Let me know what you think. Quotation attributed to Peter Cawley

I have removed a quotation attributed to "Peter Cawley, Wimbledon FC coach" as I was unable to verify it. It's certainly not at the reference cited. Very strange that it has the US spelling "defenses" too.

Here's the passage I've removed:

Tinchy Stryder → Kwasi Danquah III – The name that this person uses is his birth name of Kwasi Danquah III, as he is a businessperson and derives his income from the occupation of being a businessman and business magnate and from his companies that he owns. The name Tinchy Stryder is what Kwasi Danquah III uses as a stage name when he only releases music two to three times a year, such as in the case of Sean Combs and the stage name P Diddy. There is a another pseudonym that Kwasi Danquah III uses which is "Star in the Hood" and named after his clothing company "Star in the Hood (company)", where else in another case, Sean Combs uses his first and second birth names "Sean John" for his clothing company. The point being made here is that the name that Kwasi Danquah III uses and prefers is his birth name Kwasi Danquah III, such as Sean Combs prefers to be called by his birth name Sean Combs, as he is a businessperson and he only releases music two to three times a year under the stage name P Diddy. • Oppose - plenty of rappers have a stage name and use their real name for their business empire, but have articles located at the stage name (per COMMONNAME) - see Dr. Dre & Jay-Z among others. There is no evidence that Kwasi Danquah III is the COMMONNAME - I've never heard him referred as that before, always as Tinchy Stryder. GiantSnowman 10:55, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Place of "Origin" is London

According to the Wikipedia rules on "origin", an artist's origin is: "The city from which the singer or group originated (that is, the city where the group was founded; or the city where individual performers started their career, should it not match the location of their birth). If the city is not known, specify at least the country." This would make Tinchy Stryder's origin London in the article infobox. This is explicitly stated on the artist's wikipedia page, in the Music career beginnings paragraph, in which Stryder's musical beginnings in London are clearly described. According to wikipedia rules, the origin of the artist must be stated in the infobox as it differs from the artist's place of birth. Southlondoneye (talk) 08:08, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

I would like to inform that Danquah's "place of music origin" is not London, Danquah's music career did not start or originate in London, England, United Kingdom, the "Biography – Early life section" explains that Danquah began making music as early as in 1997, and does not mention that it was "London" as may Southlondoneye would like it to be, and that Danquah started in his "business career" almost immediately after completing his GCE advanced level and general certificate of education in 2006. In the "Music career – Music career beginnings" section it explains that Danquah's recordings date back to 1997 from Ghana where Danquah first attended education and schooling as mentioned by Danquah who is a Ghanaian, during television program interviews and before Danquah attended St Bonaventure's Catholic Comprehensive School then finally the University of East London, where it is then mentioned that Danquah would make appearances in 2000 (three years after 1997) on pirate radio likely in London, which makes Danquah's "place of music origin" in Accra, Ghana, and not in Bow, London, England, UK as may Southlondoneye would like it to be. Danquah's "place of music origin" would be Accra, Ghana from 1997 and not Bow, London, England, UK from 2000. Danquah has mentioned in interviews that he would first attend school in Ghana, before attending St Bonaventure's Catholic Comprehensive School in 2000/2001 and consecutively moved between Ghana and England, UK, as his family and parents reside and have always resided in Ghana, and not England, United Kingdom. I would also like to inform that it is indeed viable for somebody to start or have a music career and a prosperous music career in Ghana, Africa such as the Ghanaian rapper "Sarkodie" for an example, and is not just in the United Kingdom and United States that somebody must start their music career or have a music career and a prosperous music career. – MarkMysoe (talk) 17:47, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

The "Early life & Education" and "Music career beginnings" paragraph clearly state that Tinchy Stryder began his career in 1997, at which time he was a permanent resident of London. In a 2012 interview with The Guardian([1]), referenced on Stryder's wiki page, Tinchy clearly states "When I first started spitting lyrics I was 12", at which time he was a London resident. Tinchy Stryder's career started in Grime music, a style of music which originated in his home neighbourhood of Bow. In a 2012 interview with The Telegraph([2]), it is written "Kwasi Danquah III, 25, better known by his MC name Tinchy Stryder, started his music career on pirate radio stations in Bow, east London". His career origins in Bow are widely referenced, from many sources. Tinchy Stryder began his career in Bow, London, England, and his according to the Wikipedia rules on "origin" this must be stated in the artist infobox. There has not been a declaration of proof and information provided by the "Home Office" and published by any news agency proving that Danquah was a permanent resident of London, England, United Kingdom in 1997. Somebody cannot be a permanent resident of a city unless they are also a permanent resident of the country the city (London) is located, in this case England, United Kingdom. As for the age that Danquah started making music, it has been stated that Danquah had started making music age 9, 12, 13, 15, and even 16 in numerous Kwasi Danquah III published interview articles, so the accuracy and precise age of when Danquah started making music cannot be pinned down to age 12. Making music does not only involve rapping, it also involves producing, singing, composing, songwriting, arrangement, disc jockeying etc. It is known that Danquah did not start his music career on pirate radio, but indeed Danquah made a few appearances on pirate radio around 2000, but Danquah did not start his music career on pirate radio. It has been stated by Danquah in interviews that when he was young, his family were involved with Ghana Airways, so Danquah would always be on airplane flights with his parents moving from one country to another. Danquah has also stated that before he began rapping he would disc jockey along with his older brother, who was a disc jockey. So inline and according to the Wikipedia rules on "origin", the information cannot be "fabricated" to Danquah starting his music career and originating in London, England, United Kingdom in the artist infobox. – MarkMysoe (talk) 01:13, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Education

The article states "He began making music in 1997 and started in business almost immediately after completing his GCE advanced level and general certificate of education in 2006." GCE advanced level ("A-Level") is one form of the General Certificate of Education, which is composed of O-Level, AS-Level and A-Level examinations. I have therefore changed the sentence. And if Mr Danquah has completed an A-Level examination, it follows that he must also have completed GCSE and AS level examinations. Cyan22 (talk) 07:13, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
