Claim that John Paul I blocked the elevation of Tomás Ó Fiaich to the Cardinalate[edit]

The claim that Pope John Paul I blocked the elevation of Archbishop Ó Fiaich to the rank of cardinal is nonsense. Pope John Paul I did not hold a consistory during his short reign. No cardinals were created during his tenure as pope, so the idea that John Paul I somehow blocked the elevation of any person simply makes no sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.142.50.35 (talk) 21:23, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

I edited to give the man his correct spelling: Ó Fiaich. Somebody needs to change his name in the title of this page. It is unprofessional and illiteracy of the worst kind to not even get the name of the subject correct.

Place of Birth[edit]

I edited Cardinal O'Fiaich's noted place of birth, as I believe he was born in Cullyhanna, not Camlough, Co. Armagh.

Controversy[edit]

"It was also revealed that during the 1970s and 1980s, the head of the National Seminary, at St. Patrick's, Maynooth College, resigned in controversial circumstances amid allegations of sexual advances towards students."

Did the head resign in multiple decades? An actual year would be more useful if anyone knows. 82.18.174.37 15:09, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See Gerard McGinnity, the McCullough Report (seen as a whitewash) and the Ferns Report 2005. Luckily for O Fiaich he was dead by then.86.46.230.150 (talk) 17:18, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Added papal visit[edit]

An odd omission, given his life's work?Red Hurley (talk) 21:40, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
