Some idiot keeps changing the dates[edit]

Advanced Warfighter specifically states that the game took place in 2013 yet some idiot keeps changing it to 2014. Please do something about that.

vandalism?[edit]

Please read: Somebody has messed with the main page. Can anyone revert it to the last good format/info page? I'm bad with this stuff.

EDIT: I can do it, never mind. -Justin 12:50 5/11/06

GRAW should forward to this page.

And once again the PC players get the shaft. This is starting to smell just as bad as the GR2 BS.Alyeska 18:40, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you think that PC Players get the shaft?

Ghost Recon 2 was promised for the PC and was never released. GR3 got released for console and then repeatedly pushed back for PC. History had some of us PC fans expecting the worst. Alyeska 22:07, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did anyone read the Mulitplayer article it is obviusly altered by Xbox Kive User Blaj

Reception in Mexico[edit]

I'm Mexican, and I remember the government said they were going to ban the game, because if a Mexican played it, he would be killing Mexicans. Shouldn't that be added to the article? --Surten (talk) 01:18, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Surten[reply]

That was GRAW2 (which has it mentioned in the article), not GRAW1. Spartan198 (talk) 01:32, 25 October 2008 (UTC) Spartan198[reply]

Combat Suit[edit]

I was watching the Gadget Show. The guy talked alot about this sick game! Saying started production early, which means it took them 3 years to complete this game. Which means the editor that added that this game became production 2005 March, is wrong!
Again, the game talked about the polygons, that the amount of polygons used for these characters is the same amount used for just a playstation 1 graphics level!. He talked about the motion captures, that the San Franisco, the creators actually went to San and took reality pictures of the place and converted it into the video game

And the most improtant thing, Combat Suit. The guy was mentioning something about the suit the teams wore! That is actually real, the goverment are building this same suit and is still in development.

Now all this information should give you wiki users some data. You should all be thanking me:P I would love to apperitipate on this article but, I havn't got the game, so I don't wanna be adding info and the info kept on been reverted!
For people who have actually played the game, you need to set some description on the suit, the things it can do. Explain the HUD.

Look sharp editors! My work is done here, now add this iformation in and this article will be filled up with data!

Storyline[edit]

I've added the storyline for the PC version. I'd like it if someone could add the story for the console version and the differences between the PC and console versions since I only own the PC version.

Seperating different versions[edit]

Maybe the different versions should all have their own articles/sections so that all the informatioin can be clearly attributed to the correct version. At the moment the article seems to be mainly about the 360 version of the game with side notes about the other versions. TheEnlightened 16:32, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They're the same game, essentially. Definitely separate sections for the console and PC versions, but not separate articles. --Scottie theNerd 11:22, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing that the games share is the story, the 360, Xbox and PS2 are all different. I was trying to say they should have their own sections as parts of this article are not clear about which version they talk about and due also to the fact that they were all made by different developers and i do not see a good reason why they shouldn't have their articles. TheEnlightened 22:34, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no there not, only the PC one is made by a different develeper.

Thats a very insightful comment but the fact is that there were made by different developers. The 360 version was made by Ubisoft Paris and Red Storm as Paris did the Single Player and Red Strom the multiplayer; the PS2 and Xbox versions by Ubi Soft Shanghai (maybe also with UBi Soft Paris) and the PC version by GRIN and Red Storm. If you don't believe me go to IGN and then search all the different versions and you'll that under developer they all list different developers. Please also note the games are off different genres the 360 version 3rd persion partial team stratergy game, PS2 and Xbox being First Person shooters with not really much team stratergy (one guy aint a team) and the PC version is an FPS team stratergy game. Thus the only thing they share is the story. Also note it is Wikipedia Policy and general politness that you sign your comments with the four tides (~). TheEnlightened 12:17, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, this page seems to focus on the 360 version of the game. I have heard the PC version has a longer campaign, but this only shows the 360's campaign. Dylan 22:29, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

does the PS2 version have splitscreen co-op?Joseph Sesta 01:25, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have the official strategy guide. The campaign between the Xbox and Xbox360 is different enough to be separate games. Indeed, the official guide have two separate walkthrus for the SP game, one for Xbox360, and one for XBox. Don't know about the PC version, though it's probably closer to the Xbox360 version. -- Kschang77 07:34, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GRAW for PS3?[edit]

I just want to know, are they gonna' make a GRAW for PS3?

Are They Gonna' Make GRAW for PS3?[edit]

Huh, are they?

At the moment i do not believe any Ghost Recon games have been announced for PlayStation 3. However it should also be noted that Ubi Soft have not announced any new Ghost Recon games for any console. Also as Ubi Soft favour multiformat releases it is highly likely that when a new Ghost Recon is announced that a version will be available for PlayStation 3. Although in answer to your question, it is highly unlikly that GRAW will be released for PS3.TheEnlightened 19:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If there is a version for PS3, which is as the user above pointed out, unlikely, it will probably be like the 360 version.Lawnmowers Rock! 08:46, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not entirely Neutral?[edit]

I just random searched this page up and I saw this line here: "Chapter 2 content is 1200 ms points on xbox live marketplace. Some say this is too much money and it's ruining online console gaming."

This line seems entirely out of place in the article and not very neutral and should be edited. Sabishii Kouen 02:38, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done (not by me, though). You can edit it yourself in the future, but please do not consider it vandalism. NPOV can be a difficult concept to grasp. Dylan 22:33, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HDR Lighting?[edit]

Is it a feature? While playing the game, it seems like it is--to me--but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks, --JT 16:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Live service sucks[edit]

I was on line for over an hour last night. Went through the Ranked Games List to join over ten games in an hour and not one of them ever completed before the room dropped. Only one of them ran longer than 10 seconds before dropping. The Live Service is so bad it renders the game useless. Way to go whoever is responsible for such a piece of garbage.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Led mike (talkcontribs) 20:06, 27 September 2006.

This is not a forum about Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. It is a page where people discuss possible changed to the article (GRAW)-JNeal 17:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, your problems were probably attributed to your modem and connection quality. Lawnmowers Rock! 11:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ghost Recon 3 for the PC[edit]

I would like to call into dispute the neutrality of this section.

I think it should be changed to be much less biased, and possibly more accurate in description. However, I do not know enough about the game to change it. would anyone like to volunteer?--207.200.116.14 05:46, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The section proves how much Ubi Soft lied when they claimed GR3 built upon the first game. Alyeska 23:52, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter's colon[edit]

I could not help but notice that the colon (:) in Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is omitted from the article's title, but appears for the talk page. It seems as though it was a mistake because it does not happen to either Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas, or Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent. Instead, the titles of both of those articles include the colon, and so do their talk pages.

I checked ebgames.com, and found all three of these games titled with the colons, but walmart.com lists all of them without it. I do not know if the correct titles for these games include the colon, or not, but I atleast hope that we can decide one way or the other for their Wikipedia articles.-JNeal 17:19, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The official website does not include a colon, so I can only assume eb was incorrect. TheXenocide (talk) 00:53, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hard-drive space[edit]

I'm going to add the hard-drive space requirements in the system requirements section, Which is about 4.5 GB. --Apocalypse FP 04:26, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HUD/ CrossCom/ Combat suit[edit]

If someone could add stuff about the CrossCommunication, that would be helpful. I only have the PC version so I will try to add as much as I can about it: PC: -The top left shows what the other Ghosts see through the camera mounted on their helmet when selected and their health (Called the Cross-Com) -The bottom left shows health, stance, and heartrate (called "player status") -The bottom middle shows a compass (called "Field of Fire Indicator") -The center popup shows commands to issue (called "Cross-Com Menu" or "Order System") -bottom right shows what gun, rate of fire, and ammo left (called "Weapon Status") -the top right shows the video display (called "Nar-Com")

This all comes from the PC instruction manuel. If someone could sort this info into what is useful that'd be great.

Also, there is on the Ubisoft website a picture under "Artworks" that shows all the specifications of the combat suit. So if someone wants to sort through that too, cool. Wik-emu 16:28, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I added the cross-com system under the gameplay section, though I forgot to sign in when I changed it. Is it exclusive to the Xbox 360? --Apocalypse FP 00:07, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diffrences in storyline[edit]

Now, I don't know about any other versions (PC, Xbox, etc.) except the PS2. In the end, if you don't kill Carlos Ontiveros, he gets away from the embassy, and a bomb he planted kills Bravo Team. Does anyone know if you can kill Ontiveros, or this is inevitable? Is there a diffrence in the other versions endings? Thanks. --ASDFGHJKL=Greatest Person Ever+Coolest Person Ever 21:52, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there is a storyline difference in the 360 Version. In the end of the last mission [to my knowledge] Zocalo Plaza, where Carlos is in the building with a rocket launcher, I don't exactly know what happens if you don't kill him, because apparently there is a bug with all AI shooting at walls, and Carlos apparently kills himself by firing his rocket-launcher at a wall. However, in both times I finished GRAW, I didn't kill Carlos, however I think my teamates may have killed him. One thing I know for sure is that there is no Bravo team in the 360 version of GRAW. There is also a crosscom update of Ontiveros dying when he is killed. Lawnmowers Rock! 11:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the xbox version differs quite a bit as well. The final mission has you trying to chase down Ontiveros in some sewers, though you can't actually capture him. At least I don't think so. There may have been a glitch or something, I remember there were two enemy markers that I couldn't get to, though the game still finished saying that Carlos Ontiveros escaped. It also said that Bravo team died, though I'm not sure how they died as they decided to say that little bit while I was in the middle of a firefight. I think they died when their blackhawk was shot down. Again, it was really hard to tell because all the cross-com updates always came in the middle of a firefight. 75.100.79.240 (talk) 07:41, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I played the game to the end of the PC version watched the ending of xbox 360 version ages ago. There is no difference in the ending except in PC version you don't kill Carlos Ontiveros but instead you will need to find him as the objective. He is dead upon finding him. I probably add bit more to the talk page once i find my game to confirm it. Drahgo (talk) 18:26, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup[edit]

Did a big cleapup of this article:

  • Moved sections around so it reads better and is similar to higher class articles
  • Removed second person references
  • Added some references, mainly to reception.
  • Moved a paragraph from trivia to LS because it fit better there
  • Tabulated review scores
  • Fixed end spoiler tag

I'n unsure about the characters and trivia sections. The character section is just a list and the trivia section is short and un-encyclopedic. I expect that first paragraph can be moved to reception but I want to get another opinion on it. Desperately needs more refs especially in the story section. The gameplay section could probably do with some working as well, I doubt the inventory subheading is needed unless the rest of the gameplay section is split up into sub headings as well but seeing as most of the paragraphs are short already in the first part of the gameplay section it wouldn't work at the moment.

HALO Insertion[edit]

I own GRAW 1 and 2 for 360, and I do not know of anything about a HALO Insertion in GRAW 1. However on a fan site there are several screenshots of the Ghost Team jumping out of an aircraft at 20,000 feet and parachuting to the LZ. Could someone please verify wether this happens in other versions? There is a link to the site here, I dont know if I copied it correctly so you may need to do some searching on the site for it. http://www.ghostrecon-sof.com/ghost_recon.htm Lawnmowers Rock! 11:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The HALO insertion is in the PC version. It is the start of the tutorial, where you learn to move, shoot, etc. I'm not to sure about the other versions, though. --Apocalypse FP 06:08, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Issue with story timeline[edit]

I have both GRAW 1 and 2 for 360, and Im wondering why the Wiki GRAW articels say that the first game is set in 2013, and the seconded in 2014. But acording to the story form the seconded game, Mitchell have just got back from Zocolo Plaza ~ 48 hours later. As far as I have understood from the game is that its in the month of october.

Are you sure? I thought they gave Mitchell and his team a break between games, I dunno, you should watch the intro videos for both of them and work out the date difference. However, when Mitchell talks to Derrick Parker in the mission where Parker commands Bravo team to recover the stolen nukes, I think he said something about 48 hours ago. Anyway, I'll check the dates and post them tomorrow morning, if I can be bothered getting out my copy of GRAW: BAFTA Game of the Year Edition to check the dates and verifying them with the dates from the GRAW 2 Intro vid. If you dont know how to check it, leave either of the games at the first screen that comes up and dont touch anything for about 30 seconds and an intro video should play, there is a small subtitle saying the date, I shall look for that. Lawnmowers Rock! 12:20, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The official website for GRAW II states that it is set in 2014. As far as any other info, I can't help you out. TheXenocide (talk) 00:50, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Developer Question[edit]

It says that the campaign was developed by Ubisoft Paris, but I can't seem to find where this is stated. I can't even find any information about Ubisoft Paris. I thought Ubisoft had only three development firms, none of which are in Paris. Could anyone help me out with this? TheXenocide (talk) 00:47, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unmentioned Ghost[edit]

Mike Kim provides Mitchell with sniper support during one mission in the XBox version. I'd add this myself, but I don't recall which mission or the details of it. Sorry. Spartan198 (talk) 01:39, 25 October 2008 (UTC) Spartan198[reply]

Sales Section[edit]

Just curious, but anyone think that this section of the article could be expanded a bit? I think it's not technically detailed enough about the game's sales figures in regards to the places it was sold in. But that just might be me. GUtt01 (talk) 13:03, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
