The bit about Tom Nook being a reference to Koons and Uncle tom which was just added is a bit troubling to me. I deleted the user signature and the blatantly non-NOPV bit immediately, then removed the rest on the grounds that it consitutes original research, which Wikipedia is not. Redirect?

There's enough info on Tom Nook for an article (& there's potential for more considering no one has added that info we learned about his past in Animal Crossing: Wild World yet). There's no point in turning the article into a redirect, so I'm restoring it SNS 16:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Bad Grammar, Copy Editing

The grammar in the second sentence of the article was enough to make me stop reading. It also begins a string of 5 sentences that all start with the pronoun he. Anyone that knows more about the Animal Crossing series want to clean it up? 66.92.76.13 (talk) 14:09, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Reception Section

The reception section for this article could really use some work. I would/may do it myself, but I want to explain since I believe I've done some of it before and it appears to be back in the article...

"Reception" is like reviewing, or a judgment, on something. Not just random observations. For example:

IGN listed him as the 72nd video game villain is a good example to have, as it's making a statement on his quality. It was ranked. He was deemed better or worse that other characters.

Tom Nook has been satirized in several articles, often compared to a mob boss or kingpin. Tom Nook has also been personified as a devious character, as well as a gangster, including an issue of the web comic VG Cats, which depicts him roughing up the player's character for his rent money This is a bad example of reception. It's just stating what some third party source said about, or interpreted him as. It can be put elsewhere in the article (I suppose, I personally don't think it's really notable at all, but that's me.), but not in reception.

As such, I'll likely begin removing some parts of the article like that above. Sergecross73 msg me 17:39, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

You are right in much of what you have said. Satire articles, or the mention in the VGcats comic are not reception. The writer of this article, User:New Age Retro Hippie, now realizes that, and has removed it from a few articles, but has missed this one. _Blake ^{(Talk·Edits)} 17:53, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Articles such as these, even if satirical, are observations, as well as analysis of characters. To a greater extent, look at GLaDOS, which has a section devoted to analysis of the character. Her analysis is of greater significance, of course, but reception is not just giving a flat opunion. - The New Age Retro Hippie used Ruler! Tom Nook vs Tanukichi

In doubutsu no mori, Tanukichi is referred to as a Tanuki (final store is called Tanuki), however, in Population: Growing, he's referred to as a raccoon, as shown in the manual. Tom Nook is NOT a tanuki, while Tanukichi, his Japanese counterpart IS a tanuki. When Nintendo localized mori, they made him a raccoon in Growing.2602:304:CFD3:2EE0:34DB:24C3:5C1D:C702 (talk) 05:31, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
