Say what?[edit]

This article is loaded with jargon, such as "... was termed", "... termed out". It reads like a pet project of some political hack -- unencyclopedic and written for cognoscenti only. In other words, it's crap.—QuicksilverT @ 00:38, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photo Request[edit]

I recently added a "Photo Request" tag to this article, and I was wondering if anybody feels that the photo of Torlakson currently being used in the California State Superintendent of Public Instruction article would be appropriate for use in this article as well, and if so, how to properly add it to this article.--TommyBoy (talk) 21:34, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I'd put it in using {{Infobox officeholder}}. If no one does so before me I'll try to do it tomorrow. TJRC (talk) 23:48, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@TJRC:, I tried to do that, but according to the edit preview, I would have messed it up, so please feel free to add the photo whenever you get a chance.--TommyBoy (talk) 00:49, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@TJRC:, Following up on our previous discussion, I was recently able to successfully add the photo to this article.--TommyBoy (talk) 22:59, 4 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Good work; I apologize for dropping the ball on this. TJRC (talk) 20:45, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merchant Marines != the USMC[edit]

The article claims he served in the US merchant marines from 1967 to 1971; the sidebar should read Merchant Marines, not U.S Marines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BigGreenKayaker (talkcontribs) 21:20, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
