January 5th event[edit]

If these two tornadoes were indeed sighted offshore, then they were waterspouts and do not count as tornadoes. April 22-24/25?[edit]

I started a sandbox article at User:CrazyC83/Outbreak0423. It doesn't warrant an article yet but it will if the forecasts for the next two days verify. There isn't much to it yet as no tornadoes were notable enough to have a separate section and the meteorological synopsis still needs to be worked on. April 30-May 2[edit]

Different systems in quick proximity. It would be a single outbreak if it was all from one system. Such is more for simplicity when analyzing multiple outbreaks in a short period. I'm thinking 5 days is enough to place this at Late April-Early May 2010 tornado outbreak (I'm not quite for sure this meets naming conventions, though) and move April 2010 tornado outbreak to Mid-April 2010 tornado outbreak, then turn April 2010 tornado outbreak into a disambiguation page. 24th is hardly Mid-April though so Late April is best there. If no article is yet created, a sandbox could be started tomorrow morning. April-May 2010 tornado outbreak would be the most suitable name for a month-crossing outbreak. With no activity at all for 3 straight days, I agree that they should be separate. China tornado[edit]

AP story states that a tornado killed 29 people in China. It also said it had winds up to 70 mph. Seems a bit fishy, more like a windstorm. Who exactly should we trust on this one? Free info isn't really easy to come by out there. -RunningOnBrains^(talk) 15:09, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

May 18-19/20?[edit]

I'm wondering if this outbreak, considered "minor" among many meteorologists is satisfying enough to warrant an article. 5minutes (talk) says that the minimum of tornadoes required to have a sufficient article is 6. (See here Although this outbreak had more than 6 tornadoes (12 tornadoes confirmed from May 18 and 21 reports (unconfirmed) of a tornado on May 19), nearly all of them remained in open country and those that entered urban areas were considered 'no damage', meaning that possibly over ³/₄ of the tornadoes will be considered an EF0. Thoughts and comments are appreciated. The main point is, although with a sufficent number of tornadoes, will it be enough to warrant an article with almost all of them being an EF0? You might want to see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Severe_weather/Tornado for the notability guidelines for tornado articles. Granted, these were made a while back, and not many people have worked on them, and they haven't really been followed recently, so they are up for discussion, but we should avoid making articles about mundane events such as that of the past few days. That's what the tornado events by year articles are for. I may start some more discussion on those notability guidelines, since they don't really cover tornado outbreak sequences and haven't been re-visited in 3 years. -RunningOnBrains^(talk) 01:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would say not notable...for outbreaks, there really should be a high percentage of significant tornadoes (EF2+) compared to non-significant for it to be notable...you could have 30 EF0 tornadoes in an outbreak but if it only has 1 EF2, it's not going to be anywhere near as notable as 10 EF0's and 10 Significant tornadoes. Agreed. There hasn't been a real notorious tornado since May 10. Nothing since the outbreak of that period ended warrants an article. Even 40-50 tornadoes that are mostly/all weak or in open country with no real notable tornado does not warrant an article. It's not just raw numbers that matter. I have made a sandbox at User:TheAustinMan/Late-May 2010. The next few days will justify the outbreak's existence on Wikipedia. If is has a sufficient amount of notability, and I have completed my sandbox, I will "move" the sandbox into the "public" Wikipedia. June 17[edit]

It's borderline for an article IMO. There is one fatality (at least) and several notable tornadoes, but I would still want to see more total. I did not create a sandbox (likely won't until tomorrow at least if determined to be warranted), but I don't object to a creation of an article - would require the June 5-6 outbreak title to be changed though. New York tornadoes listed twice.[edit]

The tornadoes that struck New York City in September seem to be listed twice, once under September 16 and once under September 20. The September 20 section provides a line to the main article, which says the event was on September 16. Ist there a reason for this apparent contradiction? Crooksville Ohio Tornado[edit]

September 17, 2010. This blew over my house and touched down in my field. Since it was confirmed, I figured it should be included. :)

There were other confirmed tornados in Ohio that day, throughout central and southeastern ohio. None seem to be reported on here though.

Yearly total[edit]

It seems the tornado count for this article is a bit low. According to the NCDC the final tornado count for 2010 was 1,282 and the map posted on the main page would seem to agree with this, listing 1,280 tornadoes. Is there a reason for this discrepancy? Latrobe, California on November 23[edit]

While reformatting the monthly articles, I came across an EF1 that occurred on November 23, in Latrobe, California. It is listed here. It was not previously included, and I increased the yearly count because of it. @United States Man, TornadoLGS, Wxtrackercody, Elijahandskip, Tails Wx, and Poodle23: I would like to ask you if this particular event was listed already, or if the increase I made was needed because it was previously lacking.
