Correct aimag?[edit]

This text is probably about Tosontsengel/Zavkhan. [www.wetter.de wetter.de] places tosontsengel 170km from moron and 152 km from uliastai. the tosontsengel in khovsgol shouldn't be that cold, either. Yaan 08:49, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They're not that far apart, so we'll need to be careful to identify the right one... Probably best to find some Mongolian sources. --Latebird 09:36, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For a start, I have [1]. It says the relevant Tosontsengel is 680 km west of UB. The Tosontsengel in Khovsgol should be more like 650, but this may well be an error resulting from conversion to the non-metric system. Yaan 11:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A difference of 30 km almost an exact hit in Mongolia.... There are NO Google results combining 1085.6 with Zav[k]han. But of those mentioning Khövsgöl, the vast majority leeched the info from WP. List of weather records gives your NOAA link as source, which seems unaware of the confusion. I guess we need a report with the coordinates of the measuring station to be sure. I've posted the question to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Meteorology. Btw: As far as I see, the measuring hasn't been certified (yet), so it's not really an official record. --Latebird 13:07, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the weather data on the web (incl. the site linked to in the article) seem to relate to the Tosontsengel in Zavkhan rather to the one in Khövsgöl. That should at least be reason enough to move anything not related to records to that other Tosontsengel. The linear distance from Tosontsengel in Zavkhan to UB is about 650 km (source: Google Earth), so it's a close hit as well. Yaan 16:02, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
