When?[edit]

Does anyone know when exactly the ball stopped having to be literally touched down as in Rugby Lazmac 11:12, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1889. I'm going to add information to the article. *Mishatx*-In\Out 02:10, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no mention here as to whether a touchdown is also considered a first down. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.0.104.129 (talk) 00:35, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Change tags[edit]

I did a thorough copyedit so I am removing the {{cleanup}} and {{technical}} tags from the article. If problems remain, please explain here what the problem is if you are going to re-add the tag. The article needs references, so I will add the {{unreferenced}} tag to the article until that situation is improved. Johntex\talk 03:28, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

TD?[edit]

The lead says that Touchdown is abbreviated to TD. Is this the case in a specific situation? Who does this? What reference says so? The article does not itself use the abbreviation and so the reference to it and details of where it is used should probably be elsewhere in the body — GhostInTheMachine talk to me 10:07, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added a link from NFL's website of an example of this usage. DMacks (talk) 11:20, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
