Should the XP150 Yaris be the part of the third generation Yaris lineage?[edit]

A user stated that the XP150 Yaris is not part of the third generation Yaris because this model is based on the Vios, not Vitz. As far as I know, this Yaris can still be the part of third generation Yaris (other than XP130 model) because it replaces the XP90 model in several countries (for example in Southeast Asia, as written in the article). But it can be a contradiction because it also replaces the XP130 model in several other countries (for example Chile and Mexico as written in the article). The question is, how should this model actually be treated? My take on this case is to make it still the part of the third generation Yaris, as the Vios is definitely the third generation Yaris sedan (there's no XP130-based sedan model). The XP150 Yaris is the hatchback version of it. 180.252.236.111 (talk) 23:36, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The entire XP platform line from the 10 to the 150 is almost an act by Toyota to defy classification. The Yaris, Vitx, Vios, Belta, Mazda2, bB (aka Scion xB), ist (aka Scion xA,xD) and probably a lot more all come from the same platform. If we're talking about the Yaris name plate then we are also out of luck because Toyota sold the same vehicle under various nameplates and is also selling the XP150 and the Mazda2 as the Yaris at the same time. I would simply junk the idea of generation and simply list them by model code and year. Toyota have muddied the waters too much to do anything more.  Stepho  talk  00:06, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How about dropping the term "third generation" from the article to avoid confusion as there is a third generation Yaris in ROW? Now wiki (talk) 02:55, 20 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I removed "third generation" from the lede in accordance of discussion above. Now wiki (talk) 23:50, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
