Comment Personally I would call all metropolitan councils Foo Metropolitan Borough Council rather than what is on their website as that is a branding exercise. Having said that, the move was made in March this year as per WP:COMMONNAME in this diff, and if it is an issue of consistency then Bolton Council, Oldham Council, Walsall Council and Rochdale Borough Council (which are all MBCs) are all using the names from their websites. --The Vintage Feminist (talk) 10:44, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose I am responsible for many of the article moves. It's the name the council uses for itself, and it's the name most people identify it as, therefore it's the council's common name. As per WP:COMMONNAME this is what should be used, and not the council's 'official name'. (The same reason the France and Germany articles aren't called French Republic and Federal Republic of Germany, respectively). ToastButterToast (talk) 18:59, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
