Talk:Transit District of Utah

As of 7 May 2018, the Utah Transit Authority will, by Utah State Law, become the Transit District of Utah. However, there exists a very strong, grassroots effort (with apparent support of the state governer) to reverse this decision by the Utah State Legislature. Nevertheless, if such effort is successful, it will not likely be realized until early 2019.

If the decision is reversed, it should be included in the history section of the Utah Transit Authority article. If it is not reversed, then the original article will need to be renamed (as well as many others). The question remains, what to do in the mean time? This editor highly recommends leaving this article as a redirect until the matter firmly resolved.

By way of information, UTA (which did not request the name change) has suggested that the cost for implementing the new name could be in the range of US$50 million (though this amount is contested by some in the legislature) with, in the words of Governor Gary Herbert, no compelling reason for the change.
