Merger[edit]

Let's get this merger done, ASAP, folks! Bearian (talk) 19:44, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree that this has merits, although there is content in the Regional transmission organization page that is specific to the US and this should be preserved in that merger. I hope I have made a small step in the right direction by improving the description of the System Operator role in this existing page. I have attempted to clarify the role, and to describe the relationship of the System Operator to the electricity market. I acknowledge this may need to be broadened to cover different approaches in other jurisdictions. I will wait for comment before attempting a merger.Marshelec (talk) 08:00, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_RTO page is another that should be considered if content on these topics is being redistributed. Bobdc (talk) 15:38, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I Dissagree... they are separate terms in the utilities industries.... if merger does occurr should be under the NERC/DOE standard term which is Independent System Operators. Develop to provide an international context or merge somehow ?[edit]

There is a separate article Regional transmission organization, and the term Independent System Operator also re-directs to that page at present. The content of that page is almost totally based on the North American system, and quotes FERC definitions etc. To complicate things further, there is another largely stranded article ISO RTO with extensive overlapping coverage. There is a need for a broader perspective, given that electricity systems all around the world require transmission, and system operations services, but FERC deals only with the USA. What is the best approach ? Is it better to develop this page here for a more international perspective, and leave the content of the Regional transmission organisation page much as-is (just modify its title to show it pertains to North America only ?), or heavily edit the Regional transmission organisation page to provide a more balanced view ? I think somewhere has to be a place for a global disambiguation of national TSO's - a table listing, per country, the incumbent TSO's per sector (electric power, natural gas, water, television, Internet etc.) Wakari07 (talk) 14:38, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
