Merge[edit]

The following discussion is closed and will soon be archived: There was apparent consensus to merge Travelmob to HomeAway.com; it has been merged. There is no apparent consensus to merge VRBO with the same target; it has not been merged

As per the text of the article, the subject website/business was bought by (and subsumed into) HomeAway.com more than 4 years ago. Even if the subject here was notable in its own right (and personally I would question whether that was/is the case), the bulk of the content is almost certainly out-of-date and redundant to the web-property that it now forms part of. WP:MERGEREASON would seem to support merging what limited (non-promotional/product-description) text there is here, perhaps to the "Acquisitions" section of the HomeAway article. And making this article/title a simple redirect. WP:PRODUCT also likely applies (as all this company now provides is product "inventory" to its now parent company). • Comment. Thanks. I agree with expanding the scope of the merge/discussion to the Vrbo article. (As with this Travelmob article, WP:MERGEREASON and WP:PRODUCT also likely apply to the Vrbo article). To ensure there's enough time/awareness of this proposal, I've added a merge tag to the Vrbo article. And expanded the one on the HomeAway.com article. If other contributors spot those tags (and contribute here), then great. If not, and there are no other thoughts/contributions, I'll move ahead with the merge in the coming days. • Disagree While I believe you both make valid points, I don't believe that merging these two pages would be in the best interest of Wikipedia's readers, particularly those who are familiar with Vrbo but not its corporate parent, HomeAway.com. Potential confusion could be exasperated by the company's hefty ad spend on TV and digital media or even its Citrus Bowl sponsorship, all bringing greater familiarity to the Vrbo name (https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/334067/vrbo-ad-campaign-reflects-new-pronunciation-ver-b.html). This source states that thousands of people search vrbo.com daily, and many of them may be completely unaware of the corporate structure. Thanks all for input. I'm closing this thread and removing the remaining hatnotes. There was apparent consensus to merge Travelmob to HomeAway.com. It has been merged. There is no apparent consensus to merge VRBO with the same target. It has not been merged. Guliolopez (talk) 01:57, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
