Thank you for your feedback.
I'm a new user and in process of understanding and navigating through Wikipedia. I will be linking and referencing the following in order to conform to the guidelines for athletes during my editing process.
Bonacorsi & Mager are coached by 1980 Olympic Gold medalist Linichuk and Karponosov and are ranked 32 in the world according to ISU webpage. Here are several links to verify qualifications into Wikipedia:
It is my understanding that in order to qualify, they need to be world ranked within the top 40; <http://www.isuresults.com/ws/ws/wsdance.ht>
Or, coached by world and or Olympic champions; <http://www.icenetwork.com/skaters/detail.jsp?id=39421&mode=P>.
There were / are several US junior teams ranked among the top 40 teams in the world; notably the team of Shibutani / Shibutani are an example.
Thank you and look forward to your response. Hmager (talk) 15:15, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- WP:SKATER lists the five criteria that Wikipedia uses to determine whether there should be an article about an individual figure ice skater (only one needs to apply). In this case:
- The person has not competed in any international competition (which disqualifies them from the first, second, and fifth criteria)
- The person has not competed at a senior level national competion (which disqualifies them from the third criteria)
- The person has not competed in a Grand Prix event (which disqualifies them from the fourth criteria).
- Therefore, they don't meet any of the five criteria that Wikipedia uses. Singularity42 (talk) 15:24, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response.
- I have noted two international competition links in which Mager and Bonacorsi have won a medal.
- <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010%E2%80%932011_ISU_Junior_Grand_Prix>
- And the third, 2011 World Junior Competition in S. Korea qualifies them as well.
- Based upon wiki guides for Figure Skating, anyone who qualifies for a World Junior ::Competition meets the criteria, there is no medal restriction.
- Okay, that should it. I've updated the article accordingly. Its still going to need work, though. Singularity42 (talk) 17:11, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, you are partially wrong. They competed at the Junior Grand Prix. They have to compete at The Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Only Seniors get presumed nobility under this requirement, not juniors. For the 2011 World Junior Competition, there is actually the requirement to make it to the free skate portion. Only the top 20 after the standard dance portion continue on to the free dance portion. Mager and Bonacorsi were 11th after the standard dance, thus their presumed nobility. - This is what happens when the reviewing New Page Patroller (i.e. me) isn't involved in the skating-related issues. If that's the case, should this be refered to AfD (or, since I was the originally PRODer who then self-removed my own PROD, re-PROD'd)? Singularity42 (talk) 00:10, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
