Mellotron

i could be wrong but i dont think that tony banks had a mellotron at the time of trespass. im pretty sure the first recording with a mellotron was the fountain of samalcis.

Well you are half-wrong: he didn't own his own mellotron at the time, no. But they recorded the album in a studio, and believe it or not, most studios actually have their own equipment which you can use when you're in there ;-) Moreover you can quite clearly hear mellotron on the album (for example, at the start of "White Mountain").--feline1 22:17, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
That is correct. Mellotron is also used on Visions of Angels and Stagnation: http://www.planetmellotron.com/revgenesis.htm MarkRae (talk) 15:15, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Critical success

We turn again to Rolling Stone magazine and his review on Tresspass, wich basicly follows the basics of describing a little bit of the album, sometimes the cover and then meddle that with phrases such as "at momments its just plain boring" along with its final word about the album "only for hardcore fans of genesis, otherwize its just not worth it". Of course, i read the review a long time ago, and i believe it can be found in its webpage so im basicly para-phrasing here, but it was something very along those lines. Trespass didnt necesarely had a critical success, though its deffinatelly a fine album and one of Genesis's best.

Professional Review suggestion

As an editor at Crawdaddy!, and to comply with COI guidelines, I am not posting the link to this article about Trespass. However, I would like to recommend it on its merits, and hope that an editor will find the time to examine the piece and—if he or she sees fit—post it to the professional reviews section. I appreciate your time. Crawdaddy! (favorable) [1]

Chart Position

I don't have a copy anymore, but according to "British Hit Albums", Trespass did not chart at all in the UK until it was reissued in 1984 after Virgin bought out Charisma Records. That was when it hit #98. Foxtrot was the first album to actually chart in the UK when originally released. --Ritchie333 (talk) 15:45, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Opinion vs facts

Can wiki authors give opinions like: "The drum playing is generally fairly soft, which actually complements the atmosphere" with no references? I just want to gauge what can and cannot be put onto wiki pages. 21:54, 28 December 2008‎ 86.149.191.223
