Notability[edit]

Someone put a speedy deletion tag on this article, but I believe it meets WP:MUSIC for the following reasons:

Criterion #1 - there is ample secondary coverage of this group in the form of music reviews, CD reviews and the like on Google ([1]).

Criterion #6 - John McLaughlin in particular is notable even outside the context of this band.

In addition, I would imagine playing at the "Bay of Gigs" cultural exchange festival is an indicator of notability, as is the fact that their album received a re-release in 2007, over 25 years after their one and only gig - something that doesn't happen to unremarkable bands all that often.

If you disagree, I would not take offense if this is taken to AfD for further inspection and consensus. Lankiveil (speak to me) 10:23, 14 March 2008 (UTC).[reply]

I agree, Criterion #6 - Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable. Mclaughlin + Williams played with Miles Davis ie otherwise notable. + Pastorius is notable for Weather Report. Alec.N (talk) 03:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criterion #6 - I am sure that anyone with an interest in late-20th century jazz will accept that the Trio of Doom were a group iconic musicians. So, this album should be included in its own right.

I also think that this recording has historic and political significance.

However, apparently the reputation of the artists involved on its own is not justification for inclusion. There is also an argument not to include it as it did not 'chart' (even if the music was performed by pre-eminent musicians).

I think the these criteria are flawed and should be revisited as they drive Wikipedia towards the commercial and tends to excludes excellence (although I do not consider Trio of Doom to be well recorded). Personally, I will never look-up a 'boy-band' that has had the pre-requisite sales.JBUK (talk) 12:52, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
