Untitled[edit]

There is no mention in this article about then-Captain Truman Smith's role as assistant military attache at the U.S. Embassy in Berlin, when he was assigned by the embassy, in Nov. 1922, to check on the obscure political agitator Adolph Hitler. Smith's quotes about Hitler are quite interesting; about an outdoor rally: "Never saw such a sight in my life!" A few days later he met Hitler in Hitler's bare, meager one-room apartment, and stated, "A marvelous demagogue!"; "Have rarely listened to such a logical and fanatical man." Returned to Berlin, Smith reported, "His [Hitler's] ability to influence a popular assembly is uncanny. In private conversation he disclosed himself as a forceful and logical speaker, which, when tempered with a fanatical earnestness, made a very deep impression on a neutral listener [i.e., Smith]."Leedurhamstone (talk) 18:57, 21 December 2014 (UTC)leedurhamstone (12/21/2014) [1][reply]

Interesting! Can someone put this into the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.220.86.118 (talk) 22:40, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
