Potential controversies.[edit]

I am wondering, what would be the community consensus on a controversy section? Considering that Truth Initiative / Truth Orange are funded by the MSA settlement, it seems incredibly likely that they are spreading misinformation about Vaping in order to prevent their funding from dying out. Why? Because Truth Initiative get less money if less cigarettes are sold, as per the terms of the MSA settlement: in that the amount of MSA each state collects annually depends entirely on the number of cigarettes sold. With this in mind, it would be extremely easy to see why TI/TO may be motivated to tell people that vaping is the same/worse than cigarettes themselves, and to lobby for their banning entirely. It's not a stretch to imagine that places like San Francisco, and New York (which are some of the most densely populated areas of the USA) would also want to ensure they receive their payments, with it now known that only 3% of the MSA funds is actually used for MSA related areas such as hush-money to cancer patients and anti-smoking programmes. The rest being embezzled into other sectors, isn't it ironic that these two places have banned the thing which is bringing down the number of smokers? I'm not the best at verifying all this, but I bet someone here could find something reliable to source it all? Grez868 (talk) 14:04, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
