Cleaned the lead up a little[edit]

I patched up the lead to include the original name of the town, and that the current name is often (unofficially) hyphenated for clarity. I used to date a Miss Fiesta pageant winner; I wonder if that's a WP:COI? Heh.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  12:29, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mick Foley / Cactus Jack persona[edit]

I was asked by editor Magnolia677 to bring this topic here.

To my knowledge I first heard of Truth or Consequences, NM through its mentioning as the billed hometown of this wrestling persona. The applicability of this information seems equivalent to the rest of the items in the "in popular culture" section. I no longer actively follow wrestling myself, but there are millions of wrestling fans worldwide, and Mick Foley is a well known star. He obviously has no real connection to the town, but it is a fun and interesting bit of popular culture. 198.210.1.3 (talk) 21:16, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is an encyclopedia, not a blog or social media. This sort of trivia that you describe as a fun and interesting bit of popular culture belongs on Fandom, not here. You are correct that He obviously has no real connection to the town which is an additional and equally important reason why it is not appropriate to keep trying to add this trivial content to an article about a real town where real people actually live.
