Don Quixote reference

[edit]

Cervantes writes a 'forward' to Quixote, pretending that he didn't really write the book, that it came from a manuscript by a Moorish scholar, Sidi Hamet BENENGELI. This would be pronounced exactly like Benenhaley and some sources say that the progenitor, Joseph Benenhaley, spelled his name in the Spanish/Moorish way. Cervantes would have associated the name with people from Morocco. 2600:8801:D00A:4600:F839:D419:C28D:420A (talk) 01:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
