Axle or Axel?[edit]

The article speaks of "axle" turns. I thought "axle" was what a wheel rotates on, and "axel" is the term for a dance turn. But maybe that's just for figure skating. Has "axle" been in long-time use for (say) ballet, or something? Or should we change the spelling here to be consistent? Larrydberg (talk) 08:32, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(Later) I now see that the original article did use "axel", and it was deliberately changed to "axle" later (25 November 2013). So I guess I'm asking for an explanation of the reasoning. Larrydberg (talk) 08:39, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
