"Turnstiles in Russia"[edit]

Agreed - and indeed there are several references to Russia that (with the possible exception of turnstiles on board buses) don't seem to be all that different from practice in numerous other countries. Rosbif73 (talk) 14:42, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ticket Barriers[edit]

Currently 'Ticket Barrier' redirects here. However, a ticket barrier refers to a gate which lets people through to a public transport system if they have a ticket. Fix what? To be completely honest, the differences are minimal - the redirect seems fine to me; the only possible improvement would be to possibly add some info on the other type of gate you describe to this article. Alternativley, if you can find enough info on the other type of gate, create an article for it in place of the redirect, but I can't see that being easy. _Talk Islander 23:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, being in the UK myself, I feel I can accuratly state that turnstiles are very often used as ticket barriers. Go to any theme park or similar ticked attraction, and you'll find a turnstile. I am saying the redirect is inaccurate as a ticket barrier is a gate controlling access and a turnstile is a device often used as a ticket barrier. I forgot that theme parks etc. often have them. Anywikiuser (talk) 16:13, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that there are or were ticket barriers that were not turnstiles (see e.g. de:Bahnsteigsperre or several images on Commons)), a separate article "Ticket barrier" makes sense. Granted turnstiles are a very common form of ticket barriers, but only one of several, and there are also turnstiles that are e.g. coin operated, and have nothing to do with tickets.Schlosser67 (talk) 06:23, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Negatives/Criticism[edit]

Acutally, there are turnstile gates for wheelchair users, called swing gates. The width for the passage is customizable. Tripod turnstiles and speed gates are kind of barrier passage, while swing gates, barrier free passage. History Expansion[edit]

Last sentence in Full-height turnstiles[edit]

Seems very out of place / not in keeping with the style of the rest of the article, and the citation for it is a company that sells turnstiles; looks like a sneaky advert more than an actual useful piece of information.
