Album type[edit]

Hi Eyey90. Please discuss about the album here, not in my talk.

I'm not really sure about the type of this album. U990467 tagged it as Studio album, so I just followed it. Also, as per the description in Album#Length, "recording counts as an "album" if it either has more than four tracks or lasts more than 25 minutes."

But MelOn tagged it as an EP. So I'm also confused. Accireioj (talk) 06:23, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thx for answer. Unfortunately I couldin't find any info about type at TWICE's official site. but on top of MelOn, other Korean streamings also wrote it as EP.(Mnet, Genie, Bugs).
I guess the label told about type to streaming services, so I think we'd better to follow as they classfied. Eyey90 (talk) 07:12, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Lane 2 is no doubt a studio album. Since it has enough length and tracks, you can refer to 24K Magic (album). These two album have similar length. Also, TWICE noted Lane 2 a "Special Album" on their official social media. U990467 (talk) 13:14, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello U990467. thx for answer.
First of all I am native Korean, so could tell I know well about Korean entertainment system than you. in Korea, usually when a studio album comes out, the label definitely tell "it will be a studio album". The point is whether the label says 'it is a studio album' or not, not judging by Western criteria of album type. so if it ain't a studio album, just be treated as EP or Single. that's why most of Korean streaming services classfied Lane 2 as EP.
to be more concrete Lane 2 is a mini album, neither EP nor Studio album. but it is closer to EP than Studio Album. and that "Special Album" means that it is just the reissue. Eyey90 (talk) 16:47, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I think that "Special Album" is the best way to positioning this recording. Wikipedia has the infobox for "Special Album".U990467 (talk) 02:07, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alicia leo86. There's a discussion here regarding the album type of Lane 2. I just saw your edits in Twice discography, tagged it again as EP. I thought it is now agreed as "Special album"? Please see discussion above. Accireioj (talk) 05:41, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for going ahead and doing it without knowing of this first. It was under my knowledge that all reissues/repackage would be listed/ set up like that in the EP box I did. Lane 2 is an a reissue/repackage of an EP. The name special album was just in the title but it's pretty much an EP like Eyey90 said. Also Lane 2 has all the songs that Lane 1 had except two more so I think it should be there. Alicia leo86 (talk) 05:50, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Lane 2 is too long to be labelled as an EP according to Album#Length, but it's also not a regular type of the studio album. "Special album" is the most appropriate position for Lane 2. See this. U990467 (talk) 07:20, 21 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. Shouldn't it be "reissue" only? "Special album" feels like a term for fans. @U990467:Simon (talk) 10:44, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi . That was published by JYPE. Even the album cover has TWICE SPECIAL ALBUM, so both "reissue" and "special album" are correct. Accireioj (talk) 10:53, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox album does not have a classification type of "Special album" the only valid entries are the ones in this table

So seeing as studio album and EP don't fit, it will have to be classed as other, as that is the only category that it fits in. - X201 (talk) 13:45, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Knock Knock (Twice song) be merged into Twicecoaster: Lane 2. "Background and release" and "Promotion sections" are just exactly the same as what I added in the EP's page, and the "Music video" section was only moved to the new article. There are no significant changes. The "Reception" section can be added in the "Commercial performance" section of Lane 2. Accireioj (talk) 07:35, 02 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose "Knock Knock" itself is a notable song that should have its own coverage. "Background and release" and "Promotion" sections can be expanded further, while "Music video" section should not be included in the EP's article as it is out of scope. — Simon (talk) 05:02, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Knock Knock" is not as notable as "Cheer Up" or "TT". Aside from being commercially successful in digital sales, there is no other significant impact/recognition in Korea or Worldwide; no awards or nominations (maybe not yet). Digital sales can be added in the EP's page as "Commercial performance and reception". "Music video" is just additional info. Like what I said ALL OTHER info in the song's page was just copied–pasted. Accireioj (talk) 07:50, 03 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
